Mr Cole and Ms Mawhinney

I'm not so sure about Steven Cole, despite being recognisable to thousands around the world I'd say that he's virtually unknown in the UK. I can't think of any virtual unknowns they've got to present the flagship bulletin...

I see Steven Cole is doing Breakfast with Sian this morning.

Interesting change.

Maybe a sign of things to come after the N24 relaunch?

He was actually quite good with Sian. Whenever I've seen him presenting, hes been on his own and he has a tendacy to talk himself to sleep! He has a very different presenting style! He was even better with Sian, having someone to chat to and banter with.

I remember him being quite stiff when he was at Sky, even with a co-presenter. Then again, so was Penny Smith.

I thought he was absolutely terrible on Breakfast. Next time they need someone to fill in for Bill they should choose someone who can actually READ the news without stumbling over every other word and placing ridiculous dramatic silences all over the place.

Awful. Simply awful.

I can see you're a fan Wink

He does need to make up his mind whether or not he'll use glasses!

From what I saw, I thought he was good - I've watched him on BBC World for a long while, and he just has a unique presenting style, not just another clone. For those who think he is unknown in the UK - before moving to BBC World, he'd worked on Nationwide, ITN, CNN and Sky News!

So Jon Sopel on the 6 - what do we all think? Pretty good I reckon, better than George, but I hope they bring back Bill next time.

Presumably Jon was only doing it because Bill's been filling in for Dermot on Breakfast all week.

Would have been better if Jon had started with "At Six O Clock". For some reason Madame Raworth & Politics dont mix! Anna may have just carried it off, but not Madame Raworth!

Was it just me or did the man look slightly overwhelmed (even petrified) when he was reading the headlines at the side during the opening sequence. I swear he looked afraid to glance at the camera!

He looked to me if he was swaying.

I always think this - why does Sophie always do that bit when Bill (or Jon in this case) is there. They are both far more authoritative as presenters. This isn't to say Sophie isn't good - she just suits the co-presenter role better.
