Plus some of the names don't make sense anymore like LWT for example.

I’d say, during its time, LWT only meant London Weekend to people that lived in London. For everyone else it meant shiny floor entertainment & big shows. Also, no different to Freemantle using the Thames brand.

I personally think using the old established brand names is much more effective than new labels (in situations where it is appropriate).

The Thames brand is now more associated with entertainment rather than drama, comedy or factual as those were transferred to the other Fremantle labels 9 years ago.

Yeah....
So Thames works as brand still. No reason that LWT would be less meaningful brand than say Lifted. L

Lifted makes sense as in the programmes lift the spirits, it doesn't matter either way, ITV aren't reviving LWT as a brand anytime soon.

If legacy brands were brought back, the programmes they made wouldn't necessarily need to be filmed/produced in the regions the brands are associated with.

In the days of the old regional companies, programmes were often filmed and/or produced in another region.

Examples of this are:

This Morning, produced by Granada and filmed in London
Gladiators, produced by LWT and filmed in Birmingham
Wycliffe, produced by HTV and filmed in Cornwall

There's also modern day examples, such as Catchphrase which is produced by STV and filmed in London, or is it Maidstone these days?

It’s a nice idea & these brands would still have more equity than completely new label names. Who cares if it is or isn’t going happen - it’s a good idea.

No it's just nostalgia, it makes zero sense in the real world

Yes, it’s nostalgia. Nostalgia marketing can work well & can be a really effective strategy. Who really cares about an ITV Studios label though. I just think it’s a nice idea. I don’t need an elaborate discussion on the effectiveness of nostalgia as a marketing strategy.

What I find strange is that ITV has various brands that they use for certain programmes such as those shown here. https://www.itvstudios.com/global-production

I imagine some of them are acquisitions. None of these have any connection to the former regional companies, however.

No different from Fremantle and All3Media having various companies under one roof.
