I'm sad to see that this place is closing, but I can totally understand the reasons!
I've only really been a lurker, finally registering an account here in 2008. But I've always enjoyed reading through the threads here, and find the discussion really interesting even though I feel I have nothing to add!
So thank you to Asa, the moderators and contributors to the forum over the years for the interesting discussion I have always enjoyed

I think I've been here if not quite from the start then not far off. Mostly lurking (particularly since I started working in TV) but I suspect I visit the site to see the latest quite a few times a day!
Asa and I are around the same age as we were "the youngsters" on the MHP-chat list back in the day (which was fairly notable in a way it isn't here). Being fairly youthful back then it was quite nice to find somewhere that you could discuss modern presentation in detail...MHP tended to be derailed by "bring back ITV startup routines" type conversations semi-regularly.
I've always been impressed how long Asa has run this place having started it at such a young age. When I think of all the life changes I've been through since 2001, it really is a huge achievement. There are few forums so well-run. Congrats Asa and have a good break from it all!

I started a thread about that a couple of days ago, but Asa locked it this afternoon because people started arguing and bad mouthing other members.
Asa, that wasn't what I expected when I started the thread, so I feel I'm partially to blame (because I enabled it by starting the thread) even though I wasn't involved in that thread derailing talk. Sorry.
Interestingly Digital Spy have also just announced bye bye to their General Discussion, Politics and Showbiz forums so it'll presumably be a lot quieter on there too soon!

Reading through this thread has been quite interesting.
It has really surprised me to learn how many people thought they have been bullied on this forum, I think it's a sad reflection of our society there is such an intolerance of ideas.
I've never really understood the notion of getting wound up by an opinion of somebody you've never even met or has no influence over your destiny - life is short, I can't imagine there will be many of us on our deathbeds wishing we'd spent more time arguing over such things.
It's been nice seeing a few names in this thread I thought were gone for good. Hopefully the new place will have the shared sense of community.

I had to tell my story. Forums are chock-a-block of different opinions and "characters" and its that variety that makes them so vibrant but some people (and I mean across multiple forums not just here) seem not just to have no tolerance but no sense of humour. I'm not going to go into detail but I left in September 2020 because of the downright nasty response as well as the resulting sycophantic kudos to a joke I told.
Like the rest of you I have high hopes that TV Live Forum will be free of the poison but if I think anyone is being a **** to me I will stand my ground.

It's been a fun ride seeing things on this forum over the years, and taking part in different discussions. I will miss TV Forum, but I hope TV Live Forum will be a worth successor.
Asa, you have done a fantastic job running this forum.

Maybe we should have a “forbidden” sticky!
But the big question is, over on TV Live Forum... will we be able to discuss GB News?

Discussion of events in the news is welcome, provided it has something to do with television presentation. Your political interests are of no interest to anyone here, talk of a political nature will result in thread closures and warnings issued.
