This thread loves to slag off Channel 5 but I think they've come a long way in recent years.
In some ways it is arguably more BBC4 than C4 nowadays - they have certainly found a formula which brings in an audience they are happy to cater for.
Still a little bit of an identity crisis with the better quality docs somewhat overshadowed in public perception in comparison to the marathon blunder shows or celebrity bios, but I think perception is slowly but surely turning.
I actually watched C5 for the first time in a while this week. So surprised at how documentary orientated the channel is in peak, it was an evening of cop docs and a 90 min crime doc about James Bulger which was actually very good.
