Oh I know this. Its just odd that talking about it is still a thing. Thats why the vast majority of Americans/Canadians have DVRs or stream tv or allow the recording to build up so you dont have to watch the ads. So you can FF thru advert breaks. Not a problem for people in US and Canada in 2021 with the advent of modern technology.

Slightly late comment - but sufficient US and Canadian viewers must watch the ads, or they wouldn't exist, nor would the commercial TV channels (I know they get some income from cable and satellite subscribers, but not most of their income).

What are we guessing for tonight’s rating? It’s in quite a long timeslot.

12.4m overnights. Nudging upto around 15m on final consolidated figures

Note that the peak for the coveted 16-34 demo peaked at 83 per cent. Overall a success for ITV on all counts.

Also worth noting in Australia, the interview did great numbers for ViacomCBS owned Ten on Monday night also.

Apparently CBS paid Harpo 9 million for the interview and ITV paid Harpo 1 million according to Reuters. You'd have imagine Canadian Broadcasters paid something under that. But subsim issue comes into play so who knows. The interview was aired on CBS owned network TEN in Australia so its unclear if they paid a separate fee or if the 9 million paid by CBS included all of CBS properties including Paramount+ and TEN.

In France, the interview was relegated to TF1's sister channel TMC (LCN 10 on TNT), while RTL showed it in Germany.

In Austria it was shown on public broadcaster ORF1.

Ten probably paid Harpo for the rights otherwise we would have seen Channel 5 in the UK broadcast the interview.

I suspect also that ITV had the money and have a higher viewer base than C5 was also a factor in them acquiring the rights than going to a ViacomCBS parent company.

The international rights were done on a territory by territory basis, rather than deal with CBS, and then Viacom owned channels around the world getting the password to the FTP server where it sits.

Where it appears on a Viacom owned channel, it's because they outbid any other broadcaster in that country for the rights. If Channel 5 offered up £1.3m for them, and ITV only £1m - it would have ended up on 5 last night.

No it wouldn't have been on C5.

It has been reported that ITV's £1Million was less than Skys and C4 bid...but they went with ITV as it would attract more eyeballs.
