I don’t get why Megyn Kelly is on? The coverage was laughable enough beforehand but it literally makes no sense for her to turn up and discuss this Laughing

High profile voice in America and someone who covered the wedding part of NBCs coverage.

Don’t know if you could argue she’s high profile now. She hosts a podcast - after her year long chat show was cancelled over comments she made on air about blackface.

Something that I've noticed this morning is that the split screen view of Piers and Susannah is that it's a slightly different aspect ratio to all other angles.

The top is about half an inch from the top of my screen.

If using the split screen to give the illusion the presenters are next to each other they need to be a lot more careful about crossing over the ‘seam’ - which I understand is pretty easy to do when talking to someone to the opposite side of you but still.

I do enjoy Piers but this morning he's been on another level, and not one I like.

We've also had no other news as far as I can see so far. Still time for competition though.

It doesn't look like we are even getting the daily 'rant at a minister' slot today either

For a channel that actively supports and encourage people to talk about mental health, Piers is coming across very dismissive about her claim she was suicidal.

Quite, it makes the clashes with the whole Britain Get Talking campaign they've been going on for months now

Ranting at the schools minister about NHS pay rather than talking about schools reopening just sums it up. Finding a topic to rant about and have a 'fiery exchange' is more important for clicks than the topic actually in hand

I wish the guests would tell Piers to stop going off topic. He tried it with Ben Fogle the other day with Harry and Meghan and Ben rightly told him he didn’t want to talk about it.

Time to see quite how seriously ITV take their 'Britain Get Talking' campaign. Some of Piers's remarks over the years about mental health had already been problematic enough and stuck out like a sore thumb given the ITV focus on mental health.

His response today to a woman saying she felt suicidal is just beyond the pale - yet I have no faith ITV will punish him in any meaningful way.

Piers often wastes a lot of time in interviews trying to set up that viral 'gotcha' moment they seem mandated to achieve at least once per show.

He'll happily spend ten minutes shouting "admit you made mistakes" to a minister about something which happened months ago and can't be taken back now if they tried (or, in some cases, about something which was nothing to do with that minister in the first place) while there are a myriad of better uses of the guest's time which would provide a much more useful, informative experience for the viewer.

Perfect example today - the Childrens Minister appears on the show on the morning on which schools reopen for all pupils across England. Should we make the most of this opportunity to discuss schools and address fears many people have about children mixing together when the rest of the country are still in lockdown, or should we prioritise lambasting her about nurses' pay which has nothing to do with the role of Childrens Minister whatsoever...? I know which one I'd choose, and let's just say, it's not what what Piers plumped for.

Would be great if we could be treated to some high quality insightful discourse once in a while, but, alas, that doesn't get online clicks like an EXPLOSIVE EXCHANGE or a minister being SKEWERED by Piers... Rolling Eyes

EDIT: And that's before you even mention him making light of Meghan Markle's claims that she was on the verge of suicide... on the channel who tells Britain we need to 'Get Talking' about our mental health... How much longer can they allow this boorish renegade to ride roughshod over the good work the rest of the folks at ITV/ITV News are doing?

I miss GMB's mix of serious and lighter stories, it's gone too far the other direction IMO.

I do enjoy Piers but this morning he's been on another level, and not one I like.

It's such a shame as he's been great when he's been channeling his talents for something worthwhile this last year. Then he ruins it with this sort of thing.

I overheard/caught some of this mornings programme and it was just a mess and totally unprofessional

I’m surprised Meghan and Harry haven’t sued him (Or ITV) yet for something or the other. Seriously.

The programme has been getting more viewers than ever, so they aren't going to change anything, surely.
They won't want to lose Piers. Whether you personally like to watch him or not, he is the main reason for the attention the programme gets.
It is a tacky programme, but a lot of people switch it on every morning.
