Asa said in his post that the site will become a read-only archive.

That is why it's never been the solution to "off topic" chat here - it only seems to exist as a place to slag off members of this place. It's toxic - and in recent times that toxicity has sometimes spilled over here and perhaps had too much influence at times.

Metropol gave those with grievances to air them there keeping our waters clean. It is odd in an age where we are told to be kind it's OK to actively slag of members from here on there.

I say that as recently warned poster for being rude here.

Not a particularly nice vibe on there. I’ve read some awful comments about people from TVF, and it didn’t seem to moderated as vigorously as this place. I actually fear for those who’ve been cruelly dissected on there. A bit of a one-stop shop of pedantry and tragedy.

It's valid to feel upset if your comments or opinions are mocked, but let's not go down the road of insinuating that there's an epidemic of Metropol-induced PTSD.

I wonder how many members know that Metropol247 was spun off from TV Forum to stop causing it such a headache all those years ago. Where it's at now is relatively calm.

I mean... there's plenty other threads than TV Forum Watch. Plenty of other branding chat, politics discussions, and transport things in the last year. Also Radio.

Comments about your posts only take up 1.5% of posts in TVF Watch. Given you are this site's most prolific poster, with more posts than the next two users combined, I think you've got off lightly?

The Supermarket and rebrands threads on Metropol are my favourites to read.

I've been here since as long as I can remember 😂 and like others have said, although I've not posted loads I do enjoy my daily dose of TV Forum.

Thanks Asa for all your hard work over the years and providing this great forum, flipping heck I remember when TV Home closed down.

What am I going to do with out my daily fix of TV Forum? 🤪

I've never looked in there until now, so I've just had poke around in it. It's positively warm and fluffy compared to Usenet groups for instance. uk.d-i-y is probably the most feral of those groups I subscribe to. Everything is realtive in cyberspace.

Tattle and the various threads on DS are a lot worse than Metropol.

Well what can I say. TV Forum has been an almost daily read for me for over 16 years now. I was probably about 14 when I started reading this site and joined when I was 16. As someone who struggled with confidence when it came to writing and spelling, I was encouraged by one of my teachers to join and here are I am now nearly 31! Thank you Asa and the moderators for keeping the site going for all these years, like others, I suspect, it has kept me going.

I’ve signed up for the new site. See you over there

Yup, if you think Metropol is rough, you never experienced The Lounge. Or its even more terrifying follow up The (Red) Lounge.

I’ve never been mocked on there tbh as I’ve barely ever posted. By the way, your casual PTSD comment typifies the sort of ill-judged stuff I’ve seen from time to time, albeit not an ‘epidemic’.
