It’s ok I guess at least they’ve returned to the original shot.

How long have we had our GMB forum back? I used to read this every morning until some moderator kicked our forum out because the discussion didn’t adhere to their guidelines. I’ve missed this place.

There was this whole debate about long-form threads, and how we should just create a new thread if there was any major change - however I think it works much better like this, especially as GMB tweaks its presentation very often

They should introduce a new desk everyday just to attract more viewers

Piers at it again. He is a master of saying nothing and making it look like it is beating their rivals, which is not the case. BBC Breakfast still thrashes them daily in the ratings, Piers just happy that they have managed to close the gap a little bit, without posting any figures.

Just because he tweets this comment, doesn't make it wholly true.

Are you saying nobody should ever tweet about ratings unless they are number one in the slot?

It's not Piers, it's ITV:

Press release from ITV: https://www.itv.com/presscentre/press-releases/good-morning-britain-achieved-its-highest-ever-share-viewing-yesterday-1-march-record

As much as I don't see the appeal personally, GMB averaging 1m for the first time on a 'normal' day is genuinely a fairly significant moment and, as we can see from the press release, yesterday's show was only 0.2m behind Lorraine and Loose Women, and just 0.3m behind This Morning.

BBC Breakfast would undoubtedly have been ahead (probably around 1.4m - 1.6m I imagine), but evidently GMB is now starting to make genuine progress, a far cry from the days of when it was struggling to muster 600,000 viewers.

And the only reason it’s getting there is because ITV have actually allowed the show time to evolve and slowly gain those viewers. They’ve always been so quick to panic and press the reset button and overhaul completely as a knee jerk reaction when they weren’t getting immediate results in the past (see Daybreak v1, v2 and v3!) but with GMB they actually allowed it time to grow, to make adjustments and changes gradually, and so it has found its identity and audience slowly without the pressures of hitting ratings targets immediately.

I think that’s indicative of the TV industry as a whole, but that’s another discussion.

I think yesterday's share is akin to what The Jeremy Kyle show was receiving and was still beaten by the 9.15 programme on BBC1! But you can't fault that ITV have finally stopped the rot of the last decade where they didn't have the right formula.
