Did we ever find out why the simulcast happened here and what happened to Simon? Never saw him again

Could it have been related to an 'overheating gallery'? I'm not technical enough to know if this is the reason, but this was posted just after the simulcast:

An 'overheating gallery' is most likely an air con problem, in fact air con conking out etc is often an issue. I'm not saying that was the problem in this case, just a likely cause

Can someone tell the BBC's head of maps, that Wokingham and Woking are NOT the same place. They've had the GU21 SA-Covid variant 'Hot Spot' incorrectly marked ever since Hancock announced it on Monday

Maybe Head of Maps thinks it's a similar situation to the Derry / Londonderry issue?
The battle to claim Woking / Wokingham has raged between Surrey and Berkshire for centuries in their mind........

Ha !!

It's not quite as bad as the folk who think Plymouth and Portsmouth are next door to each other.

I blame SatNavs for people's lack of geographical awareness

Surely people can't think that Portsmouth and Plymouth are anywhere near each other?
Even Northampton and Southampton are closer. I'm often gobsmacked how often on quiz shows people fail to identify where major cities like Liverpool are (clue, it has docks, so is unlikely to be near the Pennines).

You don't really see labelled maps on TV News is often as you used to, but conversely weather maps are labelled, whereas 'back in the day' they weren't, so the sum total of 'subliminal' geography lessons has probably remained the same

The days of a map with Lettraset on it, and a photo of the reporter with the phone to their ear are long behind us.
Sometimes there isn't much else required though!

I agree with you, surely there’s no need for the quotation marks, it’s not like she’s pretending to be a hostage.
