Just look at CNN last couple of days. When Trump is not in the public eye, they found a new looney, Marjorie Taylor Greene, to obsess about 24/7 ?

I cant speak to why there is coverage on CNNi of this person. But its not just CNN that is covering this potentially dangerous and insane MTG woman. Denying 9/11, Sandy Hook, Parkland school shootings and publicly stalking and berating teenage school shooting victims and saying Nancy Pelosi should be shot, that the western wildfires are because of "Jewish Space Lasers". This has been covered on ALL the networks, broadcast and cable. She is not some "a new looney THEY (CNN) found" to obsess over. She is not a creation of CNN so they have something to talk or obsess about as you eloquently stated. This is a real potential danger. I cant speak to CNN's coverage decisions. I kindly ask that you, please modify how you state things when there a greater backstory then what you see on the surface., Especially when you have no idea who on this forum lost loved ones in 9/11 or are victims or lost family members to school shooting or lost their homes in the Western Wildfires. Coverage of a dangerous, mentally unstable politician is not a obsession.

But the breaking news is that she has been removed from all committee assignments in the House and virtually has no oversight responsibilities. Several Republications voted as well to remove her. Whilst the majority naturally voted to let things stand as their are. This vote speaks the validly and long-term viability of what the Republican Party is with their continued and seemingly unwavering support of deranged politicians. The coverage is not simply an obsession.

The issue with Greene is definitely newsworthy to an international audience (just with the whackiness factor!), but I don't think international viewers need round the clock "breaking news" coverage of what she has said and what is happening. It really is something that on CNNI could just form a story in a regular news block.

CNN Primetime Ratings Fall Back to Earth in First Post-Trump Week

https://variety.com/vip/cnn-primetime-ratings-fall-post-trump-1234897869/

Quote:
While itโ€™s too early to conclude any longer-term direction for news ratings after just one week, the downturn could be interpreted as an indicator of what many industry observers had anticipated: With Biden in the White House, networks that have spent the last four years railing consistently against Trump have lost the main attraction that energized their audience bases, making it difficult to hold onto the elevated viewing levels.

Something which we all seen coming, and I hope CNN bosses also seen coming.

Well deserved, great reporting and exactly the kind of thing CNN should be doing more of!

Not sure it's for the Covid reporting. The Emmy has 2019 as the date and says it's for her report on Marduro.
I think she meant that she was going to continue to cover Venezuela.

It's a New Day but with the same old topic - Marjorie Taylor Greene. Every single time I tuned in, last few hours, she was the ONLY story. Emmy winning coverage for sure!

Congrats to Isa, very much deserved. CNN's real journalists are out of sight, interviewing each other on Instragram while talking heads take screen time.

To be fair to CNN Domestic (International is showing Connect The World) they are rightly showing the COVID briefing from the White House rather than cover Greene's press conference.

She may have won the award a while ago but didnโ€™t receive the trophy until now. Emmy winners are usually handed generic ones at the ceremony, but then Iโ€™ve heard it takes them forever to send you one with your name on it that you can actually keep.

It's to alert viewers that it's a CNN US and CNN International simulcast.
BBC News and BBC World News do it on their simulcasts too - they often welcome viewers ''in the UK and around the world'' - but not the ones on Mars...

Yes, but the issue is why Canada gets a separate mention.

Kim Brunhuber and Paula Newton are Canadian, so to me it just comes across as a personal acknowledgement of their home country

Speaking of which, I may have missed it, but what are McEdwards and Mann up to these days?

Ah Colleen McEdwards - a recent blast from the past there. She was an excellent anchor and these days seems to be a lecturer and train up journalists.
Not surprised though from the below though that she stopped presenting:
