Thank god it'll be hidden away in the late 230s.

Have to say, if GB News really is committed to 'impartial journalism', I'm not sure a prime time presenter tweeting this is the standards for that. Clearly going down the road of the Piers Morgan type of ''impartial''.

So glad he's off the BBC. He's about to ruin a career I suspect.

If GB News doesn’t work out he probably won’t be back on the BBC as people don’t tend to return once they walk out. I’m sure he’ll do alright though, whatever you think of his politics he’s one the best in the business.

I'll preface this by saying that (a) I am relatively apolitical; I voted neither Labour nor Conservative in the last election, (b) from pretty much everything I know of him, Dan Wootton appears to be a rather unpleasant individual to put it mildly, and he certainly wouldn't have been one of my 'star signings' if I were setting up a supposedly credible 'alternative' news service, and (c) I cannot imagine that I'll be watching the channel personally when it begins broadcasting, however, there does seem to be a lot of very premature sweeping statements about how terrible all of this is before it even exists.

I do wonder whether the people being most critical of this would have been quite so vocal about how ghastly it all is if it were a left -leaning endeavour...

I think the key points to remember are:
(a) The left-wing opinions many users here clearly hold are just as valid and worth hearing as the right-wing opinions you assume will make up the content of this channel. Any right-wing views expressed aren't unworthy of airing just because you don't personally agree with them.
(b) It's probably better to wait until you've actually seen something before telling anyone who'll listen how terrible that thing is. I'd trust a review of the new James Bond film a lot more coming from someone who's actually seen it, rather than from someone who once watched Octopussy and is now having a guess based on having seen an incomplete cast list of No Time To Die .

Maybe ITV will be keeping his twice-weekly This Morning paper review gig open for him Smile

I can see him wanting to continue with that anyway, as it’a publicity.

Lots of chatter about GB News and very little about the News UK channel. I read a few weeks back they were racing to beat GB News to air so we may hear more on that soon. It’ll be interesting to see which (if any) does well.

With all the talk in the past decade about online being the place for news, online only streaming service and so on, it's surprising that they are so heavily invested in being on all TV platforms.

It does appear that left wing people believe that anything with right wing views shouldn't exist (or be really hard to find on the EPG!).

It's about legitimising their social media presence I suspect.

There's a big difference between having views and spreading misinformation for which GB News could provide a mix of opinion and impartial news that isn't complete nonsense.

It's right wing news outlets that have the bad rep for promoting misinformation, which is why Fox News is considered infotainment and propaganda for the previous Republican administration.
