Without looking it up, I assume 231 is BBC News. But graphics on some news channels have been toned down over recent years compared to years ago, and are no longer particularly 'flashy', such as Sky News and CNN.

If I see big over-the-top flashy graphics that take up too much screen space then I know I’m switching right back over to 231. I am a simple man. I see OTT graphics, I switch off.

I have an app on my Fire Stick which allows me to watch TV from around the world.

There are dozens of news channels in India and Pakistan, some of which are in English. The one thing they all seem to share though is completely OTT graphics.

Like you, I have no time for that whatsoever.

BBC News graphics aren't flashy, but they are just as annoying.

Out of interest, what app do you use? I spend my life trying to find decent tv apps on my fire stick!

IPTV is murky ground and there isn't a thread about it on TVF so stayed clear over open discussion and I've messaged you with you with a definitive link everything you'll need to know about the legalities and illegalities of it. Hope it helps.

GB News should just go and watch The Nine. That's how news presentation should be done in the UK, in my opinion anyway.

I presume GB News will act like MSNBC and Fox News with their overnight schedules, probably repeating their big shows from prime time from 1.00am - 6.00am, in the same way CNN, MSNBC and Fox do in the states. The main reason in the states they repeat them too, is down to the time zones, allowing viewers on the west coast to see say the 9pm broadcast of Rachel Maddow on MSNBC at 9pm PT and not just watch the east coast feed.

I usually feel uncomfortable making remarks that are 'personal', because I prefer to discuss the topic, rather than the person.

In this case, however, the topic is the person that has just been hired to front an hour on the 'appointment to view', 'personality-driven' opinion network, GB News.

I find that the problem here to be that, regardless of his views - and whether they are in alignment with mine or not, I just find Dan Wootton to be unpleasant and lacking the necessary charisma or even having the most basic skillset as a broadcaster to sustain his own personality-driven programme. He's simply not a person that I would want to make an appointment to view with.

If they're looking to the talkRadio roster for hires, then GBNews are going to be bedevilled with similar problems whoever they pick. It's not a schedule that would particularly entice passers-by into sticking around for more.

But, what do I know, I still cannot figure out how somebody saw Tucker Carlson squinting down the camera and interviewing people with that look that suggests, 'I have no idea where I am right now', and figured... "Give that man a show". The fact that he was a ratings winner is baffling.

There are partisan figures in the UK right now - from both right and left - who could carry this kind of programme and have people tuning night after night to hear them. Dan Wootton isn't one of them.

"Appointment to view" and "personality-driven" were two of the descriptors used during the great (and disasterous) Sky News 2005 relaunch.

I am not convinced that there is a market and I am not convinced at all that GB News and other competitors will move the discussion out of the much-mentioned "Overton window" because of the potential impact on advertising revenues.

Was hoping for something like Times Radio on TV. Looks like we’re not getting that. Times Radio gives us experts, the likes of Wootton give us what they “reckon”, that’s the difference. He’s poisonous.

I've heard him on TalkRadio - seems like a bit of a **** to me.

Like you, I love Times Radio and I would hope it would be something like that.

Why? It wasn't that long ago LBC had Katie Hopkins on their roster

They fired her four years ago, that's quite some time.
