Slightly odd scheduling tonight for the ITV News at Ten, that Marcella is showing a Double bill with the second episode starting at 10.05pm.
So those tuning in expecting the News at Ten to see a drama air instead are going to be a bit confused. Especially on an important milestone day in terms of Coronavirus.
Piers and Susanna set aside 15 minutes at the start of the 8am hour, paying tribute to just some of the over 100,000 that have died:
More than 100,000 people have now died with coronavirus in the UK.
This morning, we pay tribute to all of those who have died and to those who have been left behind. With their families’ permission, here are just some of their stories.@piersmorgan | @susannareid100#GMBpic.twitter.com/r6O6FRyUjI
Nice idea
in theory
.
I think it would have meant a hell of a lot more coming from Ben and Kate (especially with Kate's very personal experience with the virus) than from hypocritical Morgan who lambasted people who broke the rules on public gatherings until his son was found to have disobeyed these rules, and then jetted off on a nice little luxury holiday to Antigua over Christmas from his Tier 4 area, all the while peddling the 'we're all in it together' schtick.
I applaud the idea behind the act of remembering the people themselves rather than lumping them all in as 'just another statistic' wholeheartedly, however. In all the headlines about death figures, the fact that every single one of these people was someone's mother, father, son, daughter, husband, wife needs to be remembered and can all too easily be lost in the figures.
Terribly bad judgement from the BBC tonight to have no have not broken into the pre recorded programming about the vaccine drama. My Twitter has blown up from BBC peeps, including 6/10 Ed Paul Royall - and that was under an hour ago.

Viewers don't want news all the time, that's what the News Channel is there for.
They didn't for the US insurrection so they were never going to tonight - and the right call. It's not something that's unfolding live in front of the cameras - better to collate the soundbites for the Ten.
