The Breeze.
What was the name of the station that GHR North Berkshire replace?
The Breeze.

Listened to in isolation, it sounds quite bouncy and upbeat, which might not suit some news stories...! That said, I appreciate that the level is dipped significantly in a normal bulletin.
Whilst making the compilation at the top of the page, I noticed that GHR doesn't have any news bulletins included in the catchup recording. As a result, I've decided to record the bed that was left and figured I'd share it.

To be fair, I think Downtown Radio sounds least appropriate:

OK, it's been revealed that John Fox AKA Foxy will be launching his Breakfast Show on NRG Radio across the Black Country and Shropshire in March 2021 once it moves to DAB, along with numerous other ex-Wireless group/UTV Radio/Bauer DJ's. It'll be run by former longstanding Signal 1 presenter Stu Haycock.
I feel this will be quite refreshing amidst the current sea of identical local radio stations now broadcasting.

"Foxy won't be returning to the Breakfast Show."...The Breakfast Show will be a lot poorer due to Foxy departing - even though they say the silliness and local stuff will continue, it hasn't seemed the same the last 3 days to me. Foxy had a huge personality and comical/controversial views and championed local causes and local business, which is now sadly lacking. He will be missed.
If anyone knows which station he is working for in the future, please drop us a message.

Didn't Fire Radio in Dorset used to be called NRG before NRJ in France tried to sue them for using their trademark?

It did - it was 107.6 The NRG (pronounced on air as The Energy). The original imaging is on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/moogproductions/nrg-idents-sweepers-and-promos-1999
As for this new NRG station, it's odd that it's appearing on the Wolves/Shropshire multiplex rather than Stoke-on-Trent. It's likely to do with the different multiplex ownership - Wolves is a NOW Digital multiplex while Stoke is Bauer. I've read elsewhere how reluctant Bauer seem to be to allow non-Bauer stations onto their multiplexes.

That sounds anti-competitive behaviour if they are stopping other stations getting on their DAB mux.
One of the problems with having all stations carried on a common system of course.
How would they do that - fill the mux up with their own stations that are a computer jukebox, or making the pricing too high?
Is there a mechanism for OFCOM to investigate charging by the mux operators?
Or is this hearsay?

Arqiva seem to be quite open to stations applying to be carried on their NOW Digital local multiplexes so the price must be good. https://www.arqiva.com/home/now-digital-more-information.html
They also offer a service to support small-scale DAB licence applications.
Wolves DAB will reach quite well into Stafford but not much further into the Stoke and Stafford coverage area, but Signal and the Stoke multiplex have good coverage in places like Telford, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch.

Some news. I am very excited to announce that on March 15 I shall be returning to Drivetime, across the UK on Greatest Hits Radio. It’s a show I love and it feels as though we have unfinished business! Matt Williams will be on sport of course (who else).

Our current line-up of presenters at Drivetime will move to the earlier time of 1-4pm, with the exception of Darren Proctor who you’ll be able to hear weekday evenings from 7pm alongside his regular House Party, which continues every Saturday night.
