So now the Christmas & New Year period is over, is the daytime simulcasting between the NC & World News now finished? Going back through iPlayer this morning it didn't look like the two channels were simulcasting

Wouldn't be so sure that 20:00-21:00 won't be OS for the rest of the week, and 22:00-22:30 and 23:30-00:00 are unlikely to be simulcast, although of that only 10:00-11:00 could possibly fall into daytime.

It's likely to change following tonight's announcement again

Tonight certainly a night they should have split Katy and Christian between World and UK. Ridiculous to have a US focused hour so soon after a major announcement by a PM and now missing an NI press conference on the strengthening of their lockdown.

Surely previous posts have made it clear that Katty and Christian must be seen at all costs?

I will never cease to feel Rolling Eyes about the fact that the programme formerly known as "(Beyond) 100 Days (+)" has seemingly settled on the nondescript "BBC News with Katty & Christian" as its permanent (non-)title.

Obviously, the removal of any remaining reference to the long-since-redundant "100 Days" element was long overdue. And the brief "programme with no name" era was inadequate for an hour with a distinct format.

I honestly thought that it would be an interim title, until they could think of a "proper-sounding" programme name (like Newsday, Impact, Focus on Africa, etc).

"Beyond the Pond" would be a good name

Since it's 60-minutes of world news, BBC News could perhaps just resurect the old The World Today name, and simply call it The World Today with Katty Kay and Christian Fraser.

Speaking of Katty Kay... US comedian Leslie Jones has a knack for posting videos of her commentating over live TV, so much so NBC parachuted her into co-presenting the 2016 Summer and 2018 Winter Olympics. She now often posts videos of her commentary over MSNBC, and she is clearly a fan of Miss Katty :

Once in a while we'll have a discussion on what should the new "Beyond 100 Days" name be lol Embarassed ...

For emphasizing the UK and US: " Across the Atlantic "
For reviving the WNT brand: " World News Today "
For reusing the "XXX Today" brand (e.g "Asia Today", "UK Today"): " US Today "
For emphasizing the on air talent like how U.S. cable news always do: " Katty & Christian "

I'd probably most prefer something similar as "Katty & Christian"... The spotlight of their show is the chemistry between Katty and Christian, plus, since their show sometimes covers news from other places apart from the US and UK, why not use a name that highlights the two talents, rather than a name that "restricts the scope" of the programme?

Could i adapt the top one to Transatlantic Telegraph, though World News Today is still my favourite historically that was US Breakfast show then UK/Europe evening show.

We may refer to the USA as being "across the pond", but I've never had cause to believe that Americans use anything like the same phrase for us. (If they do, then that's genuinely news to me)

In which case, any kind of "Pond"-referencing title would seem inexplicably bizarre to US (or, indeed, any non-UK) audiences. Something involving the word "Transatlantic" would adequately fit the programme's remit.

Perhaps more important than the name is the general branding. Just using the "bog standard BBC World News hour" title sequence, graphics, and theme tune is it odds with it being a specialist programme. It needs a bespoke title sequence. Which could simply be a revival of the one previously used when it had its various "100 Days"-orientated names, but with the text on the endboard updated to a new name (even it literally just said "Katty & Christian" in blue text, with a BBC World News/BBC News red box beneath).
