I think they were ahead of their time, the 'controversy' is more with the Carlton brand itself as it erased the Central cake/Westcountry brand in those regions at the time. But I think its solid, design wise.

I'm also curious to see if this look had a brand guide to go with it - most of the time, TV identities have a brand guide to make sure everything's in order and consistent... If only the Beeb could do that more often
