KTLA - Los Angeles was the first station in the world to use Live Broadcasts from a news chopper. Many wonder why choppers are super popular in California. here is the full 30 minute special from 1958. Absolutely amazing to see something that is so commonplace in news gathering today.

Today its being used for more than traffic reports, car chases and hovering beauty shots (Ala SkyNews - I still beauty shots can be accomplished by a series of tower/skycams affixed to the tops of famous skyscrapers. rather than have a chopper buzzing around wasting fuel for no clear reason. So stupid. But digress.), Oklahoma City stations use them to warn the public of real-time disasters.

MediaCorp Channel 5 in Singapore rebranded News 5 as News Tonight, and the look was brought in line with CNA’s newscasts

Nothing revolutionary but a rather nice effort.

TOTH from Sky News Arabia in 2020.
Looking very slick on the set and graphics.
Sky News UK and Australia better start taking notes.

That is exactly the kind of presentation the UK channel should be doing. It's not OTT but looks fresh and modern. A half way house between that and Franceinfo would be a real on screen winner.

From ABC News Australia - a member of the crew clearly thinking they deserve to be an on screen star:

Here’s a interesting post that was teased on FTVLive’s Patreon. This station’s newscast was uploaded by someone else on YouTube (but the FTV posted it on Patreon with the link embedded so I don’t think it’s wrong to share). The newscast open is seemingly normal. But when anchor comes in vision he quickly does the pledge of allegiance. This is from WBUP/WBKP.

Yikes, that's a bit authoritarian. Is this becoming standard practice? I haven't seen this on the local stations in New York, but I don't think it would be tolerated here.

It comes over very Trumpian and something I'd expect from a communist country, not from a local station in small town USA.

Distracts from how awful the presentation is I guess.
