A lovely video from Tom Scott paying tribute to Alright on the Night and the effort put into its title sequence back in the 90s

Sometimes I feel Tom Scott is wasted on YouTube when he puts videos like that out. That is a brilliant video from him.

He has done some TV work ("Gadget Geeks", for Channel 5, alongside another YouTuber Colin Furze). I could see some of his videos working as One Show films, and maybe some of the game show concepts he's done.

I’m not sure why he’d want to limit himself to (comparatively) tiny TV audiences.

For members who were young in the 90s/early 00s Jack’s Throwback Attack has compiled many clips of Christmas specials of UK Kids shows from CBBC and CITV including Art Attack, Blue Peter, Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow, Fun House, Playdays, Rosie & Jim, SM:TV live and many more. A perfect festive nostalgia trip.

Hidden in the first few minutes of this video are clean versions of The Two Ronnies opening and closing themes.

I'm not sure whether this was an after-the-fact rearrangement or whether it was intended as one piece with three movements, but this version was released on a TV themes compilation

The middle bit is the Piggy Malone/Charley Farley theme

It was a well produced look back too. From memory they were meant to close the channel at some point in January 2006, but the date was brought forwards at some point in December to the 23rd.

It’s now been closed three times as long as the channel was actually on air for.

I think the report at the time was the staff didn’t want to work over Christmas and New Year on a channel that would be closing down anyway.

I’d just started work in the ITN building when the channel closed. It was the last day in the office before Christmas and we went over the road to the pub, and they had the ITV News Channel on all the TVs. I’m guessing ITN staff must have been in there and requested it - made me smile as you never ever saw it on anywhere.
