Jean-Pierre Pernaut (JPP) is leaving TF1 later today after a 32 year stint as the presenter of 13 heures.

TF1 are making a big thing out of his departure by giving him a trailer for his final news bulletin, followed by a documentary.

So JPP got a LONG send-off this afternoon on the 13h bulletin. An hour worth of tributes, plus the news. I've edited it down to the open and the last five minutes, where he hands over the baton to new presenter Marie-Sophie Lacarrau.

It looks like JPP will continue to work with TF1 for his website JPP TV which is also managed by TF1. He gave it a nice plug during his sign-off.

The documentary on afterwards is worth checking out on MyTF1, there are shots of the newsroom for the TF1 bulletins (sister channel LCI is based elsewhere) as well as the office used nearer to the studio for the presenters to prep.

TF1 are claiming 8m watched JPP's final lunchtime news on Friday. A staggering figure for a lunchtime news bulletin.

If they're counting people that watched it on both the website and app, as well as TV, it wouldn't surprise me any since its that high.

Holiday mode started on Franceinfo today with only La Matinale and Le 23h on as normal.

The rest of the day has been made of of Le Journal at x00 past each hour for 15 minutes until the evening when it's been two editions at x00 and x30 for a whopping two minutes! Otherwise it's repeats of Vrai au Fake, L'eco, the Overseas bulletin repeated from France 3 and filler from France 24, INA and TV5MONDE.

The 23h bulletin was padded to stretch it out for a full hour. They repeated two segments later in the hour.

TF1 is apparently getting a fresh new look for 2021 and there'll be a press conference about it on 5th January, according to Lenodal.
Also France 5 is also getting some new idents with a new orchestral sound and a more human approach. Here's a sneak peek of the new look.

TF1 is one of my favourite on-screen looks in the world. I hope they don't mess around too much with it!
