And murder weapon.
Shame the catalogue's been binned, that would have been a handy prop.

They made a big fuss off screen for the 30th with a special programme hosted by Cilla Black which was attended by the cast at the time plus legends like Doris Speed (aged 91 at the time!) and Jean Alexander. They also made a similar fuss for the 35th but also had a special hour long episode where Curly married Raquel. But yes it was the 40th where they really started to make a big deal of the anniversaries.

Tonight’s from 1990 it was A Granada Television Production for ITV with the corporate logo of that era
Sally was pregnant, there was the young Jenny Bradley, Nicky and Sarah Louise Tilsley joined Gail in the Corner Shop and Ivy and Don Brennan were miserable and downtrodden as they always were.
What is noticeable is that it was the 40th in 2000 which was the first year when they did a special storyline. I suppose in 1990 we were still in the old world of TV when stuff like that wasn’t expected

To be honest as amazing as the 50th anniversary/tram crash was im glad it was a lot more low key to celebrate the 60th. I thought it was an excellent episode overall given the circumstances this year, although I did find Mondays episode just a little bit better with the outcome of the trial.
I loved the scrolling credits and extended version of the theme tune,.

I agree that last night's episode could be summed up with the phrase "well, it was no 'tram crash'", though I concede that they weren't operating under the same conditions as they were in 2010 and thus it's a potentially unfair comparison to draw.
I do think that they could have done something a bit more exciting with Geoff though. After months and months of the story ramping up, and after almost a year since the 'stabbing' incident in the kitchen, I do feel that him sliding slowly off a roof is a rather disagreeably anticlimactic way to round it all off.

Yes, for the 30th they showed the first episode on a Sunday at 7.15, I remember followed by the first showing of It'll Be Alright on the Night 6, the one they showed a million times after, and then that programme the following Sunday at the same time. This is going to make me sound like a great kid, but I vividly remember that because Cliff Richard made a contribution while on stage, and he used a microphone which didn't have any kind of aerial or lead. I knew you could have them without a lead but this had nothing like an aerial on the bottom at all, and I was amazed! Although I did later learn that the microphones they used on Top of the Pops that did have an aerial on the bottom were actually just props they'd made.
They started doing a load of Corrie nostalgia around that point, they did quite a few editions of Classic Coronation Street with Judy Finnigan. I'm sure ITV are thrilled that Granada decided to launch Corrie just before Christmas in 1960, as it means they always have an excuse to do loads of extra episodes and specials at a time when advertising is at its peak.

Back to last night, did Yasmeen's house always have that skylight in the roof or was it added just for the rooftop drama, never to be seen again?
