It's twitter - the response is always the opposite opinion to what has been announced
Don't forget a few months ago the twitter opinion was that Eamonn was the worst person ever and should be removed from TV forever
But the replies this time seem to be mainly from This Morning viewers, who genuinely tune in to watch him, rather than jumpers onto bandwagons typing that he's 'the worst person ever' without even watching him.
Having been loyal to the programme for years, the manner in which they've been removed from their regular hosting duties is appalling.
Do you know something we don’t?
Have you not seen the speculation that's been rife since *that* interview with Frizell? And then the 'leak' that happened a few weeks' ago. If the plan was to demote them, they should've just announced it there and then instead of stringing it out and causing a bad atmosphere.
Not only that, but, unless Eamonn & Ruth were actually trolling the press (unlikely) and it was their decision to leave, this is a terrible way to treat loyal staff.
By Twitter standards the replies are quite muted - understandably a bit of love shown to Eamonn and Ruth but also generally positive for Alison and Dermot too.
It's a risky decision but to be frank British television could do with more risky decisions being taken.
I'm sure it was the same when Fern and Holly replaced her but that worked out.
You can’t take the replies from that persons Twitter to show an ‘overall’ support for an opinion. Of course Eamonn’s replies are going to be sad to see him go - pushed or otherwise - as they’re majority people who actively follow him and presumably like him too! Whereas Alison’s replies are overwhelming supportive for her.
It’s difficult to judge but I’d argue this about audience, people grow out of shows. Look at radio, presenters get moved on from Radio 1, Kiss and Capital and move to Heart, Radio 2 or Magic. I’d say this is what is happening here. Alison and Dermot appeal to a younger demographic; I often see videos of Alison on social media, even TikTok. She can appeal much more to the 30’s or 40’s somethings than Ruth and Eamonn can, who are now appealing more to the upper end of that, if not 50 and 60 year olds. It isn’t strictly about how old someone is either but about personality and a number of other factors.
Yes, even 25 years ago Eamonn was appealing to an older audience. I wouldn't have thought he was in his 30s when he was at GMTV - younger than the likes of Mark Little and Cheggers on The Big Breakfast at the time.
It can't just be about trying to bring in a younger audience. A lot of ITV Daytime viewers will be in their 50s, 60s and older.
Gloria Hunniford, Janet Street-Porter and Ruth Langsford on today's Loose Women surely all appeal to older people; they are Eamonn's age and above.

Attracting a younger audience is important for advertisers to the TM slot.
Older demographics are more likely to watch the BBC One daytime schedule.
It's something that happens in every walk of life / business whatever - it's basically succession planning.
There is no guarantee that Holly & Phil will stay on forever. Eamonn & Ruth may be offered the main gig in the future or they may not. So you gradually bring in new partnerships so that they can grow into the role & establish a relationship with the audience. It's just good planning.
Bit of an odd mention of Eamonn's birthday at the start of today's show. It's not even a big birthday for him (he was 60 last year) so not sure what that was all about.
Also couldn't help but see the irony that they mention Alison Hammond winning a Best TV Presenter award this week and them mention that they've had their highest TV ratings in a long time this week.
Almost as if the mention of Eamonn's birthday was shoehorned in so the tabloids wouldn't flare up that they've already disregarded Eamonn and Ruth already.

It's not a very exciting viewpoint to hold, but I feel as though there was nothing more to this than them simply wanting to wish happy birthday to someone who's worked on the show with them for years.
Holly said they will have something a little special in the studio for him tomorrow...
Probably his P45 😁🙄
Surely the higher audience figures are due to more people working at home, or being at home generally in lockdown. Also the weather hasn't been great!
Anyway, I hope the ratings are good tomorrow for what is always the best edition of the week, with Eamonn and Ruth.
