Last night the 19/20 on France 3 had an
en direct
piece to camera outside the Élysée Palace, previewing Macron's speech at 20h, then about 10 minutes later a report on the investigation into the police's handling of the migrants at the Place de la République, presented from the same position by someone else, but with the camera swung about 45° to the left to show the entrance to Hôtel de Beauvau and the ministre de l'Interieur (which looks a lot better than the Élysée shot because you can actually see the gates, rather than an art gallery across the street…).
Reminds me of when ITV News and then ITV News London would share the same live position, using different reporters.
Still happens at the BBC, there will often be a network live in the Six followed by a reporter from the regional programme at 6.30 from the same position.
Write that down in your copybook now.

... which often attracts criticism from viewers who assume it’s two entirely separate teams. Although the on screen reporter may be different, the truck staff, the crew and sometimes the editorial support staff will be the same for both so is actually quite a good use of resources. And sometimes the regional programme will use the same correspondent - Jon Kay used to routinely appear on Points West and Duncan Kennedy has done South Today frequently too. I’m sure there are other examples.

That's great to hear! So you can watch all the French channels because you have a Salto subscription? Is it possible to subscribe to Salto from the UK?
Salto has finally upgraded their live and VOD streams to 1080p.

No and no Roger. DigitalBitrate.com is the place to go to look for resolution and bitrate sources from French OTT providers.
There are means and ways to watch French television online without a satellite dish in the UK. Molotov can be viewed in the UK using a VPN or a Smart DNS provider or without if you can prove French residency (the latter may change on the 1st January when we no longer use EU rules). Otherwise there are workarounds thanks to the Swiss OTT providers. Zattoo, Teleboy and Wilmaa using the same method of a VPN or Smart DNS can be used to access French as well as German, Austrian and Italian channels. The free option is sub-par SD on Zattoo, but it is possible to watch France 2 for free in 720p with Teleboy. The Swiss providers normally offer 720p or 1080p for a select selection of French language channels for around £7-16, depending on the option of paying for HD or FHD.
