Oh, someone mentioned lack of AR of Rockefeller Center on NBC’s broadcast, it turns out the shots were recorded a few days in advance.

Now how does the tracking work? Is it embedded into the video or is there a different mechanism?

There are lots of ways of generating AR tracking data these days - some use scene analysis, some use tracked camera mounts, some use secondary cameras doing scene analysis separate to the camera shooting the scene for broadcast, some use a combination of techniques. Some scenarios require you to 'teach' the system the location you are in prior to shooting, some record data as you shoot, some work entirely based on post-production analysis.

It was recorded but rendered live apparently.
Don’t let anyone treat you like you’re a VO/SOT when you’re a PKG.

What I hadn’t realised, mainly due to the fact it’s an irrelevance to me since they got rid of any balance and they launched the superior Times Radio product, that News UK’s talkRadio has also dabbled into virtual TV sets. Albeit with a product that looks far inferior to LBC’s offering. In fact it’s a case of where not bothering would have produced a better quality product. Although you’d imagine they’d improve in the future.

You can see the set 3 hours in here. It’s US election coverage hence why this seemed the best place to post it.

Edit: seems to be actual virtual people in the background.

TalkRadio has a very low listenership right? LBC averages nearly 3 million listeners per week. What does TalkRadio get? I know they have just 220,000 YouTube subscribers.

YouTube subscribers are an irrelevant metric in professional marketing. They don't reflect views or engagement, so time spend viewing, percent completion of videos and views on channel all count for far more.

It's interesting you say Talkradio has 'just' 220k subscribers but talk about LBCs millions of listeners.

Comparing like-for-like you are right Talk Radio has 220k, but miss off the fact LBC has 237k despite being substantially older on platform. Should I call it 'just' 237k?

Rajar radio ratings are suspended and they planed to resume in the new year. It's unlikely to be until Q2/2021 and that wont report until August/September 2021 at the earliest. If the methodology has changed significantly, they may require 6 months of data even for nationals, so you are looking at the next radio ratings being released in early 2022

No research has taken place over this years brexit/corona/trump news cycle.

LBC will have more listeners than talkRADIO regardless. The 97.3 FM outlet in London is still where the bulk of their audience is listening, without it, there would be more equal competition on digital platforms.
Jeffmister, JKDerry and TheSebastian gave kudos

I am interested to see if talkRADIO is having any impact on the talk radio genre? That was why I was keen on finding out their average ratings, and of course I know now that current figures are impossible due to the pandemic.

talkRADIO does seem to be the closest Rupert Murdoch can have of a news channel in Britain as close to the Fox News type of format, with each anchor delivering their own monologue at the start of their programme.

Write that down in your copybook now.

I was replying to JKDerry who WAS talking about a radio station, and delivering opinion monologues at the start of a show. I simply pointed out that's the style is already here
