How do you recreate a heritage children's brand while maintaining the heritage of the show while modernising it for children who weren't even around when How 2 was on-air?

I don't know, but they pulled it off. It helps that the young presenters are really good, while Fred's new role really works. The anorak elements as part of the set help too for older viewers.

This doesn't surprise me considering Nic Ayling's involvement. Interesting to see the original HOW theme used with titles featuring a vortex and therefore more familiar with How 2 viewers. The title sequence is essentially the HOW 2 titles seen through a HOW filter, if that makes sense.

Nice to see Jack Hargreaves get a creator credit which I'm not sure happened with How 2.

Also as an aside, the choreographer at the end of the programme was Aaron Renfree, formerly of S Club Juniors.

Could be artistic licence for How 2, but equally could have been dropped in as a pick-up filmed insert weeks later. Soaps are good at rapidly turning round rapid inserts so it could have been done here, albeit not a priority for a Children's ITV programme but...

Yep, and the whole thing was a PR stunt. We always intended on doing the How hand signal, but kept it out of the 1st 5 shows so people would start asking why we didn't do it. In doing this we gave viewers something to talk about and therefore promote the show.#How

They own it due to a succession of takeovers of Southern Television and its subsequent owners.

Later series of How 2 had a credit for Southern Star, the Australian company now owned by Banijay, although such a credit didn't exist initially.

Also you may have noticed them refer to Granny Bunty, which I would very much assume is a nod to original 'How' presenter Bunty James!

This year we've had credits "Double or Drop devised by Eammon Andrews", "Take Your Pick devised by Michael Miles" and now "How devised by Jack Hargreaves". I see Nigel Pickard also got credited as a consultant, another alumni from the original series of course.
