I see that Victoria Derbyshire is all across tomorrow’s front pages, in a story saying that she will break the Covid rules this Christmas
It's ironic that some were suggesting her possible appearance on I'm a Celeb would be controversial now that she's come out with this. I honestly can't see how the BBC can allow somebody who is openly saying that they will break the law to continue to present programmes and conduct interviews on anything remotely concerning the law in question which surely means she will have to be taken off air indefinitely (both because it blows impartiality out of the window and because the public will not tolerate her telling others to follow the law when she is unwilling to do so herself).

This Morning still books Emma Kenny despite going borderline conspiracy theorist.
This is just so cringeworthy it's unbelievable. She's breaking it by one. As [sarcasm]groundbreaking[/sarcasm] as it may seem, I highly doubt she will be alone, the BBC didn't really need to publish the article and it is unprofessional on the BBCs behalf and her behalf.

If Emma Kenny was presenting This Morning you might have a point in comparing the situations but she isn't. It is acceptable, and even advantageous, to interview people with various different view points but you cannot have a presenter whose viewpoint is known unless they are being balanced out by another presenter. If Victoria had chosen to quietly disregard the rule on Xmas day (as I imagine many people right across the country are planning on doing) and it subsequently came to light after the event because of one of the tabloids tactics of effectively stalking those in the public eye it would be a completely different situation and could be handled with a much lighter touch but she has come out and openly said it presumably in the hopes of cheap publicity and surely must realise that by doing so she has harmed her reputation as an impartial journalist.

Other than reporting what she said in a non BBC publication ,
How else did the BBC publish her stupid statements ...
which she now seems to retract......

They did, in effect, launch the story themselves by being one of the first news outlets to report it. I understand they have to be impartial but is it really worth reporting on in the first place?
I find the comment completely unnecessary in the first place, even if she was planning on breaking the rules why did she need to tell us all?
Maybe trying to raise her profile for i’m a celebrity.

She was asked about it in a Radio Times interview, and decided to give her two penn'orth on the matter? It wasn't a big announcement she was making.

I get that, but surly she knows the influence of her job and she should’ve just said that she was going to follow the rules even if she wasn’t.
