Radio Humberside was knocked off air by a fire alarm an hour and a half ago, returning 20 minutes later (they took Radio Lincolnshire during the downtime). Presenter Burnsy blamed Peter Levy, suggesting he might have been using a hairdryer or a tanning machine. In reality, it was a false alarm.

I guess it's lucky this didn't happen when Look North was due on air.

Looking at some old pictures of Woodhouse Lane and signage was ‘BBC North East’ - can anyone elaborate on the reason for the East part in the name please?

The region was known as BBC North East at some point. Looking on TV Ark it looks to be fairly short lived around 1989

How strange. Thought it was always just BBC North. Wouldn’t have thought people in Yorkshire would identify as North East.

This was BBC internal politics at it's worst. They decided to create a "super region" of North and North East, so both used NE branding and the same stylised N device in programmes.

Then Manchester joined the party and all three used North (I think Cumbria moving from NW to NE had some effect on the branding too).

A mix up this morning on Look North Breakfast showing yesterdays weather forecast by Paul Hudson.

A viewer wrote in to Look Levy this week mentioning how they knew the Breakfast forecasts were recorded the evening before as Paul was wearing the same shirt!

It wasn't a bad point, I suppose nobody is that bothered but it probably wouldn't hurt to have a quick change of clothing before recording the forecast for the next day!

My laminated BBC Leeds ID card from 1996 still had BBC North East printed on it, which I remember at the time thinking was odd. I suspect they must have over-ordered them a few years previously.

I liked the report about the Leeds Clean Air zone that isn’t now going ahead

“Joining us now is Spencer Stokes who is in Leeds City Centre”

He was literally stood just outside!
