Family Fortunes is back

Seven years ago, there was a short-lived series called Five Minutes To A Fortune , which, like The Million Pound Drop , was hosted by Davina McCall. It aired on weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4 for 25 episodes and then was never seen again.

To be fair to Brian Conley, I don’t think it’s fair to point to those flops as being his fault. I would say in most cases the formats were either a bit weak or didn’t really suit him. ‘Let me entertain you’ was good but lost something when it went down to 30 minutes.

In fairness until he got the Chase I’d say Bradley wasn’t exactly a hot property as a presenter, but since being paired up with the right format he’s now a natural treasure.

It’s funny talking of Bradley and Brian, I always thought Brian was a quite a bit older than Bradley given that whilst they were both around in the 1990s Brian seemed more established with his own self titled show, but it turns out that Bradley is actually a year older.

I would argue his similarity to Bradley, probably makes it less likely he’d get a big presenting gig now. As people would think just think the broadcaster ‘couldn’t afford Bradley Walsh’ whereas in the late 90s it was probably the other way round.

That said Brian is now looking more like Martin Kemp than Bradley, so maybe that will help him with a point of difference.

Brian is a bit wackier than Bradley I’d say. I thought he was a bit cringe on The Chase so would need to wind it in a little to present something similar. I do think he’s great though - saw him on stage in Barnum a few years back and he was fantastic. Obviously a nice bloke.

With Cat Deeley now based in the UK, I wonder if she'd be up for fronting some entertainment formats?

Well we know she can do quiz shows.

There was talk of the Stars In Your Eyes reboot at the beginning of the year as the X Factor replacement, which for obvious reasons was put on hold.

But that would likely be one Cat might be up for doing, given she did this herself for a few years at the end of its run.

Five Minutes To A Fortune also had an EPIC theme tune! (Although weirdly from what I remember no audience or even canned audience)...Channel 4 killed it by deciding to chuck it out at 5pm head to head with the usual suspects which was never going to work

The music on that trail is the Bob Monkhouse theme though
