UTV name brand is excellent and trusted in Northern Ireland, I am sure it will remain there, as this region is very different from Channel Television, Granada etc.
HTV was one of the strongest and most recognised brands in Wales in 2002, but that didn't stop ITV ditching it. I do realise that was almost 20 years ago though, and that ITV is very different now to how it was back then.

I think the problem with HTV was that it and LWT were the only two stations which got brought into ITV PLC whose names were initials. So they didn't really work as part of a name format which was to be ITV <region>
'ITV HTV' doesn't work nor does 'ITV Harlech' (although logically it makes no less sense than Granada, it's just that's better known)
Just a thought: Wouldn't UTV Life be reasonably Un changed on screen with Social Distancing? Pammie and the guests are pretty far apart (well further apart than at Havelock house) so it wouldn't look weird on screen and they could probably pre record some DTL interviews
Is Simon a known source for this kind of info or is he just guessing/assuming? I honestly hope it isn't true.
Looks like nothing's confirmed yet. The article says the following:
"At the risk of being boring though, the fact so much normality is now possible again highlights how the point is fast approaching where a return to full UTV branding and continuity will have to be made, if it is to happen at all. Rumours are circulating about the potential return of UTV continuity in early October."
