Natalie Allen has signed off for the very last time, this morning. Was not expecting this and it's sad to see her go. One of the last remaining CNN veterans and a link to the channel's glorious past days that are long gone.
All the best to her in the future.

That's a bit of a shock - shame to see Natalie go as you always knew any broadcast she anchored would be a good one.
The weekend CNNI line-up after previously looking quite strong now feels rather thin with George & Natalie both departing, Lynda Kinkade on maternity leave and Robyn seemingly doing weekdays rather than weekends these days.
Of course it's been less noticable because of the high levels of simulcasting at weekends - and I can see that continuing for the forseeable (definetely through presidential election day and however long it takes to actually get the full results) and very likely to the end of 2020 at least.

One thing I've noticed when I have tuned into CNN recently (and it's been airing the US output) is how overly cluttered/'busy' the screen looks like in the above example
For example with the Situation Room I've frequently seen the following on at the same time:
-The rolling ticker
-The main headline bar
-The promo graphic above the CNN Logo ('The Tonight on CNN' type graphic)
-The coronavirus sidebar - which now seems to have a rotating purple globe in the graphic for no real benefit.
Far too much of the screen is covered, I'm not sure how much of it is necessary (do we really need a graphic counting down to the debate or COVID deaths to be on screen most of the hour) and I'm not sure how somebody is expected to follow all the info on-screen and pay sufficient attention to the actual output.
Add that to the dramatic CNN Domestic presentation (where it's more of a surprise if a show doesn't start with the breaking news jingle) and it's far too busy - it makes you appreciate the more minimalist style many news channels have gone with these days .

Wow completely missed that Natalie Allen has left, that's so sad. I agree with the general sentiment here, I don't see CNNI starting to resume normal programming, particularly international news during the Situation Room/Erin Burnett (ie Your World Today or CNN Today or whatever they call it these days) until after the election, and perhaps not until next year.
It is good seeing some of the US shows trying to cater to their new-found international market with the odd international story, but it must make it difficult for them too, because they are catering to two different audiences, a US one and an international one. So I do feel for the US anchors, producers, editors etc at the moment too.

I hadn't realised she'd left CNN, I'm glad she got to say "goodbye" though: https://archive.org/details/CNNW_20201004_070000_CNN_Newsroom_Live/start/3300/end/3480
One observation re the weekend simulcasting is that the news programming seems to have been maintained right up to 9 or 10pm ET, usually this is done by adding The Situation Room but when Wolf Blitzer is not there, the programming seems to change - we've had CNN Newsroom , CNN Tonight or CNN Event Previews all in this timeslot.

Pre-pandemic there was live news on CNN/US until 9pmET most Saturdays and some Sundays. The usual Saturday schedule was CNN Newsroom until 6pmET, then SE Cupp at 6pmET, either Van Jones or The Axe Files at 7pmET then back to CNN Newsroom for an hour at 8pmET. Sundays CNN Newsroom ran until 8pmET or 9pmET.

CNN are really bringing NY and DC back to life tonight. 5 top desk in Studio 19X, 3 top in Studio 19Z, 3 top in Studio C, and John King’s double magic walls down in Studio A. All desks are supersized for distancing.

By the way, what's that font CNN uses to highlight COVID-related info on the right-side of the screen? They seem to have enough of having their in-house font monopolise the screen for the past four years. Or are they now transitioning to that new font (albeit very slowly)?
