Well presumably there will be a reasonable number of staff taking the voluntary redundancy package - as I said before people view life differently as they get older, and frankly who can blame them.

Jonathan Marcus is certainly a big loss to the World Service & World News - he was an excellent analyst.

Something seems slightly wrong in the BBC taking a black presenter off of the major BBC One bulletins so that he could present a much lower profile programme on the news channel on black rights this evening.

Has it crossed you that maybe Clive wanted to cover it?

Isn't Clive Myrie a former Washington correspondent so knows a lot about the US? Maybe that's why they used him for the special?

He has also done plenty of reporting on the protests, written a few pieces as well. If you follow him on twitter you shall see he comments regularly on it. I'm sure he wasn't forced...

Also good that another BAME presenter has taken over, Clive was also presenting a simulcast on BBC World News and is a former North America Correspondent. Sometimes it is about expertise and not seniority

Reading your post word-for-word, you're suggesting that "black rights" coverage is deemed "lower profile" than the "major" BBC One bulletins? (Which could infer the subject matter is less important than whatever BBC One is leading with?)

I think I understand the point you're trying to make, but it doesn't come across very well, as written.

This is a major milestone news story that has potential to develop into a much bigger story due to the public mood in the USA at the moment. BBC News has taken one of their most senior and highly capable presenters to anchor this coverage, which is partially simulcast to a global audience on World News.

But, you're right. BBC One bulletins are far more important.....................

Is Nancy Kacungira doing three hours now (from 7) or is she in the final hour of 'afternoon' BBC World coverage? 7-8 and 8-10 on Fridays have had a different presenter on the News Channel for the past several months.
