didn’t like the colour scheme on the titles. too dark for me. wish they’d animate the “ UTV LIVE” logo. the music was the only good thing.

Could easily be BBC Breakfast Time.

Love the clunk as the plywood is slid across

Ha, yes, I'd forgotten they did things like that. I wonder who had the job of doing that, and what they progressed on to!?

HTV Report West’s OTS set-up span round.

Map on one side, upon which the weather forecast (or rather a couple of magnetic words, no symbols or isobars) was added towards the end of the programme (there was no meteorologist, it was read by the newscaster) and blue screen on the other.

The rotation was supposed to happen out of vision, but occasionally (to my nerdy delight) it would be mistimed and instead of the map or an image relevant to the story, you’d get some poor sod’s panicked face until he’d completed the flip.

Have a look at this, the action kicks in at 04:30. I can recall Trevor would often turn the cube the wrong way to reveal the next map

Blimely, those titles look like a proto-Day Today!

I love the way the News West logo staggers into the foreground at the end!

The pre build up bit of music seems to be longer than the actual bit of music in the theme tune

Its certainly up there as one of the strangest title sequences and theme tunes ever

Gosh that reminds me of a schools science programme from the 90s or something.

They're gloriously awful.

I know this is going slightly off-topic but those titles have reminded me of these Wogan titles, also from 1991, which make my head hurt. Can anyone explain what the concept is supposed to be other than spelling out 'Wogan' in the most visually bizarre way possible? Was there something in the water that year?

Oh I didn’t mean a specific one - just the genre in general! Gave off that kind of vibe.
