Was it me or did I catch Valerie Sanderson back on News 24, back after a year away?? Anyone know if this is a sort of comeback as a part timer or something? Also is Val's afternoon replacement Maxine Mawhinney on holiday or something - been Liz Pike lately!?

The last time I heard anything she was going to BBC World but we don't seem to have heard anything more about her.

I heard this morning that it's Anna Ford's birthday, so happy birthday to her -- apparently she's [ 60 ] today, looking fantastic I have to say.

Anna has been my favourite for years, especially earning my respect when she pushed that executive into a rosebush.

Is it true she was once engaged to Channel 4's Jon Snow?

Some unusual happenings at BBC News next week according to the Radio Times. The 6:00 News is down to be presented by George & Sophie as usual on Monday and Tuesday, and then by Bill Turnbull & Sophie on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nothing unusual there I hear you cry, except that on Friday Bill is down to be doing Breakfast as usual and Dermot Murnaghan is doing then six with Sophie.

I'm surprised by this - normally Bill would do the six, and someone else (maybe Dermot again, or Rob Bonnet) would do Breakfast on the Friday instead. Perhaps the BBC are realising the importance of Bill & Sian's Friday Breakfast, or maybe they are lining up Dermot for other things.

Either way it should be interesting to see Dermot on the six. I wonder who will take the anchor's role - when Bill is on with Sophie she tends to do it, but I wonder if due to Dermot's status he'll get to take the lead presenter's role.

Yeah, I saw this too. They probably just want Dermot to do bigger bulletins. Sophie should really still be the lead presenter as she is one of the main presenters.

Should be interesting though - with Dermot on. Smile

Was nice to see Adrian Finigan co-presenting N24 last weekend. Maybe we should see him more. Him and Jane/Sian at from 4pm would be a nice match.

Just a general question - do people like Bill & Sian still do some work on News 24 - I can't get the channel, so I don't often see it.

And I'm looking forward to seeing Bill back on the 6 tonight - IMHO he's far better than George Alagiah. There's so much more chemistry between Bill and Sophie than with George.

Nope! Bill and Sian dont present on News 24 other than the Weekend Breakfast bulletins. Sian has done quite a few Weekend's recently on BBC, but that's about it.

I will be very interested to see Dermot on the Six, though I wouldn't hold my breath about him taking the lead role.

I am wondering if the Beeb have any plans for Kaplinsky to cross over to BBC One bulletins? Perhaps a bank holiday here and there?
