Right, let's take a look at the Festive Season of the 1980's starting with Christmas Eve.

1980;Kenneth Kendall
1981:Richard Whitmore (Lunchtime) and Moira Stuart (Evening and Late)
1982:Jan Leeming
1983: Even through Genome had Jan Leeming down, it was in fact Nicholas Witchell that did it.

1984:Moira Stuart
1985-Richard Whitmore
1986-Martyn Lewis (Lunchtime) and Moira Stuart (Evening and Late) Another one where Genome hasn't got it quite right as it was definitely Moira Stuart on at least Early and late although i think in both this and the following year's Christmas Eve, the One O Clock News was done as normal.

1987:Michael Burek (Lunchtime) and Moira Stuart (Evening and Late)
1988:Lisa Davidson (Lunchtime and Evening) and Nicholas Witchell-although Lisa was down on Gnome for all 3, i suspect that to due the aftermath of Lockerbie which happened a few days earlier, the classic case of a senior presenter being called in unplanned happened.

1989:Chris Lowe (Lunchtime and Evening) and Martyn Lewis (Late)

For Christmas Day in the 1980's i'm just going to do this summary-aside from Angela Rippon in 1980 and Jill Dando in 1989, you can basically say that Christmas Day in the 1980's from 1981 onwards was either Moira Stuart or Jan Leeming.

“Channel 1”? When was BBC 1 ever known as that? And I wonder if the clip of Nicholas Witchell above was actually on BBC2, given his pointed reference to Channel 1?

I think we can assume that was a mistake by Nick Witchell. IIRC he'd not been presenting that long during that era.

And now the New Year period of the 1980's beginning with New Years Eve.

1980-1982-Richard Baker (with 1982 being his last appearance)
1983/1984-Moira Stuart
1985-Frances Coverdale
1986-Unknown as the Genome listing seem to list the normal presenters being on which i don't think is correct.
1987-Philip Hayton
1988-Laurie Mayer
1989-Laurie Mayer (Lunchtime and Evening) and Martyn Lewis (Late)

Cool that’s covered a few “unusual” shifts now... what’s your plans with next list? Am looking at doing some Genome this week, but want to make sure I’m not duplicating work...

I started doing weekend bulletins for the 2000s last weekend and got to 2003. Plan to do the rest of the decade sometime this week.

Zeinab did do a few shifts on the News Channel and even did the Five but you could probably count on one hand the number of times she appeared.

I totally believe you of all people, just can't find any evidence and I do recall her being objective to having being categorised as being within a certain bracket. In fact I recall her being rather peeved!

Heres a very brief clip of Zeinab doing the NC (about 1 mins 10 secs in)
