BBC provide a decent regional news at lunchtime and weekends and have also start showing the local opt outs during Breakfast too.

English regional opts during Breakfast don't begin again until next month.

Is that a good idea considering there’s talks of second waves?

The only reason they were cancelled in the first place was due to fear of lack of presenters/producers, and also the fact that not really anyone gives much of a damn about the traffic or news where you are - which would just have been the national news with place names in it.

In September, schools will also be back so I guess that will play a factor in its return.

Ah right. I only watch on BBC Wales.

Regarding the ITV lunchtime and weekend local bulletins the presenters are there anyway so an extra couple of minutes added to each bulletin wouldn't make much difference especially if the newsreader was just reading extra news items i.e.. no extra reporters needed to be at risk out and about reporting (although they manage to fill a full 30 minute bulletin in the week). It just feels very rushed now by the time you have the weather as well.

For those not aware, the relevant Eid was Eid al-Adha, not Eid al-Fitr - the latter of which is the feast breaking the Ramadan fast, which happened back in May.
