Breaking: I understand the PM is set to announce fans will no longer be permitted to attend the sporting pilot events allowing limited numbers of spectators at Goodwood, the Crucible and the Oval in coming days after evidence the infection rate has risen across the country

That means the Crucible is now a closed doors event as a result of the PM's announcement. What a way to start the tournament, first session has fans and now they're all gone when it concludes.
With that in mind, is it even possible for the BBC to consider moving their production and pres team to Sheffield, since there's only going to be players and officials now, and no fans?
Additionally, could they even consider setting up the second comms box?
God, it's a mess. Does highlight how wrong Barry Hearn was to go on the attack yesterday, but also an absolute farce for it to be announced a couple of hours in to the first trial event.
Don't really get why outdoor racing and indoor snooker are in the same trial - surely racing (and F1) is ideal for trials with their large outdoor and crucially unlike stadiums, open, spaces.

He went on the attack on the BBC only a few hours ago, even more harshly than he did yesterday. He owes Hamilton a massive apology and honestly I'd try and reschedule his match by way of apology

Strongly agree now, Hamilton needs to reinstate himself into the tournament now that Boris has removed the reason he withdrew in the first place. Tbf on Barry though, it sounds like no one was even aware this would happen. Am surprised they're not already ushering the crowd out of the Crucible at this point.
WST is now aware of Boris' announcement however, so likely they will be removing fans at the end of the morning session:
Following the UK Prime Minister's announcement, we will be releasing an official statement shortly.

Short answer - no and no.
They might possibly make changes under normal (or exceptional in a different way) circumstances, but certainly not now. It would gain very little and put more people at risk, not to mention the cost.
Even if it’s different to having the public attending why would you put more people in the building, when the government has just stated the opposite is required because the existing plans are now too high risk.
According to the BBC at the start of the 1pm broadcast, Barry is in a meeting about the situation, the understanding is that fans will be allowed in for the rest of the day but after today there will be no fans present. Though this seems to be hearsay and may change before the afternoon session begins.

I agree, but I guess we will need to see what happens in the coming days ahead. You're quite right though that any changes are probably not going to happen due to the level of risk.
