What was your favorite regional ITV station growing up?

A question asking which ITV station you grew up watching.

Did the TSW continuity studio move location during the franchise? In it's later days it looked so much bigger than originally - or was that just a wider shot?

Does anyone know where in Middlesbrough Tyne Tees had their offices? Did all companies have their second offices in a prominent town or city centre location?

Corporation Road.

UTV has had an office in 'Stroke City' since 1980; it used to be in The Diamond (the precise centre of the city) until the mid 1990s, and has moved around a few times since, generally outside of the walls.

They were planning to open another bureau in Omagh around a decade ago, but I'm not sure if that went ahead.

Scottish Television had the Gateway theatre in Edinburgh, which is now apparetments. TVS had Maidstone, as well as Southampton, having originally taken over Dover from Southern (now a car park), and used that for a year. Apart from Carlisle, where did Border have other studios or offices? Same for Anglia, and TSW.

As well as the Quay Street and the Albert Dock studios, Granada had News offices in Chester, Blackburn and Lancaster. These offices were mothballed in the early 2000’s.

So, here's a question about a current ITV franchise.
Westcountry's news operation is based out of HTV - but they must have some sort of phsical newsgathering presence in the South West? It's a good hour and half drive from Plymouth to Bristol - even if the A38/M5 are behaving themselves.

So do they have a desk in an office somewhere, with a fibre link to feed footage and the voiceover track from the camerajournos based locally, back up the line to the mothership?

Thanks. I've been through the ITV website, but never that page!

A couple of desks at one (if not) the largest indie in the South West - even if they are an ITV Studios owned company. Makes sense. I knew they must have some sort of presence in the city, it was just where.

These days that sort of thing can be done from just about anywhere, there's no real need for a bureau with lines back to base. Useful to have an office in the patch of course but there's probably very little they could do from there that they couldn't from anywhere else with a decent Internet connection

Hence the BBC recently disposing of many of their similar bureaux

Interesting link enough into HTV West news from ITN in 1977.

But look at that map of the HTV West area in the top story as part of the set. They clearly really really wanted North Devon as part of the area as well as Exeter!

It explains the rows between Westward and HTV didnt just end with the Mendip transmitter coming online!
