I'd love to know if the average City trader in the 90s got up at 6am, watched Business Breakfast before heading to work, then had their lunch break watching Business Daily or Working Lunch. I guess pre-internet they may have done!
If that was the case, then pre internet/last century the BBC would have been wasting their time Friday lunchtimes, and probably Thursdays too !
Wasn't Working Lunch actually an hour long on Fridays at one point?
The Working Lunch I remember (and I didn't see it much) contained quite a lot of consumer news, and seemed to be more generally aimed at armchair investors dabbling in the stock market, and news on the latest ISAs, pension funds, wills and inheritance etc. The look at the share prices was a fairly quick part of the show, and fitted neatly with company news/results - which often explained why the prices were going up/down.
What was that lunchtime fantasy share trading game that Channel 4 had? I really liked that and seem to remember playing along online. IIRC it had to be tweaked a bit because the tips and advice given were having an affect on the actual markets
I remember the 11am forecast in that era was longer than all the others because it included a forecast for mainland Europe.
I wonder if it was simulcast on Super Channel? I know their forecasts came from the daytime studio.
I don't think so, it would be an odd thing to do when they produced special bulletins for them. I think it was just so one bulletin had a different focus
Wasn't the daytime weather office camera to avoid using a pres studio all morning? It would of course have coincided with CBBC starting the birthday card slot but I'm not sure if the weather was normally the same pres studio.
This may be a faulty memory, and I can't corroborate it with Genome, but I have a recollection of Phillip Schofield doing a Christmas Day (or perhaps Christmas Eve) CBBC holiday morning in Pres A, with news and weather bulletins during the morning. I'm pretty sure there was some banter with Michael Fish after his forecast - possibly around Phil not getting Michael a Christmas present.

Yes - the website version of Celebdaq launched before the TV show, and continued for quite a while after the TV show was cancelled.
Just found this from UK Gold in 1993. If I’m not mistaken, would this have been one of the first widespread uses of ECPs in the UK, and possibly even the world? (at 3:55)
God, what an ugly logo even by 1990s standards. Always liked their "gold bar" logo from the mid 1990s though.
Regarding the ECP, it may be an early example by UK standards, though Wiki suggests CBS were doing a similar thing from 1989, but I can't find any examples of anything from that time, that's not to say it didn't happen and it may not have happened on all programmes anyway.
