Currently listening to my local station. Whilst Andy Crane is presenting, they're playing different songs to what are otherwise going out on GHR. I was just expecting a standard split link, as opposed to playing different music...
Probably gradually introducing the new playlist by including some songs the old station would have played.
One new GHR station I listened to this morning had the GHR jingles etc just with their name on them. At 9 they all seemed to be doing a Live Aid anniversary 5 songs in a row
Mine is pretty much the same. Completely scrapped the old playlist, Greatest Hits Radio jingles with old name added on. They might as well have just switched over to the new name.

I checked out Peak FM earlier after reading this post. It sounded like the same playlist but slightly ahead with different links and the presenter doing a split ID at the end. The difference was the Bauer wide ‘cash register’ competition didn’t go out on the new stations for obvious reasons (it was a roll over).
When I was reading through the discussion of split links earlier, it reminded me of this video by DJ Rob Howard: https://vm.tiktok.com/JLhkyT9/
It doesn't look complicated, but of course this is Capital and not GHR.

One place it’s an official duplication in terms of licence area is much of the Signal 107 coverage area. Wolverhampton for example is in the official coverage area for 105.4 and most of the other licences under the Signal 107 banner are effectively in the TSA of 105.4. Not that taking the Hits Radio format would make any more sense as all those areas are covered by Free Radio also.

i guess regional radio isnt relevant anymore, ie majority of heart programming coming from london, GHR both in england and scotland, worrying times!

Radio Today did an interview with the head of Bauers networks and they are rushing the transition because of covid, so the changes should have been phased in a lot slower. If it wasn't for that the changes would make more sense and be more subtle.
Apart from Wolverhampton, 105.4 like the other West Midlands regionals doesn't officially get that far west

Telford, Kidderminster, Shrewsbury, Stourport and Oswestry aren't in the current GHR area. The west mids regionals are receivable along the M54 corridor but not that well. Having Signal 107 brings GHRs coverage up to that of Free

I take your point. But interesting MCAs (which as I’m sure you’re aware are different to the station defined TSAs) don’t cover areas like here in North East Worcestershire when these stations have always targeted the area and they are well listened to. I don’t know how many of those other areas are like that!

I know it's a mere 200 kHz, but the West Midlands service you're discussing is 105.2, not 105.4. 105.2 is interference limited as you progress through Staffs anyway, by Heart 105.4 from Winter Hill, and also to an extent by whatever Leicester Sound is called these days
