Not here for Oliver Dowden saying this afternoon that the BBC is at fault for cutting the free licences for the over-75s when it was the Conservatives that stopped the funding in the first place in 2015 and forced the BBC to shoulder the cost. Absolute hypocrisy from the Conservatives.

Sounds like you've just annoyed yourself based on something in your own head there

It's unlikely he will mention the TV licence at all unless someone brings it up


That's essentially what Dowden has just said in response to Laura Kuenssberg: that he "regrets" the BBC not finding "efficiency savings" to fund these licences. Hypocritical government through and through.

The Government is also playing a similar game with TfL - Transport for London with regards to funding. They got a bail-out recenty with some strict caveats such as axing free travel for children and young adults up to 19, pensioners not being able to board for free before 9am on weekdays and price hikes on all forms of transport, yet the Labour Mayor of London refuses to scrap free travel for young people.

It's all about control for which the Government are now suddenly interested in as the BBC certainly since austerity kicked in have become the enemy.

I often wonder, how much of the 6 audience also watches the 10 and vice versa. I assume it is low, because tonight's ten is identical to the six. Reports so far have been the same, same presenter, same two-ways, same headline sequence bar a few words here and there and regiggled the running order near the end.

Obviously, these days budgets mean this is how it is. But what ever happened to the "domestic" six and "international" ten? The only time I actually notice the difference is if it's hidden behind two different presenters.

During the current times, probably quite a lot. This is why I always watch ITV at teatime and the BBC at Ten, as you get the best of both worlds

During “Working from Home” it did come quite clear that reports on the One, were then repeated on the 4:30, and then would turn up again on the Ten (and would have been on the Six as well)

Maybe just because there cannot be special reports every day. The Yemen, Xinjiang and Wuhan specials all debuted on the Ten.

Thursday's most-focused international story was the SCOTUS’s decision on Trump’s tax records. Both Six and Ten have Jon Sopel.

Actually most of the stories are not be repeated on the Six and Ten, the reporters are different…

NC’s subtitles mistakenly took the BBC London one after the teatime news… Does the NC take BBC One’s subtitles directly for the bulletins?

The Ten is delayed once again for the 5th time in a month… Also there will be a delay tomorrow and on Monday, Tuesday and Friday next week…

There are more and more new programmes which are not time-fixed on BBC One so this kind of delay will be more frequent…

By 3 or 4 minutes? Happens with News at Ten on ITV/STV very frequently. It certainly doesn't bother me...

I was annoyed when I tuned in at 22:00 to find i would have to wait until 22:03 for the headlines ... And then of course another half an hour for the top story...

NC crashed into World at 22:37:30 when World was airing a story… Tim Wilcox welcomed domestic viewers 10 seconds later and the Papers title was played before and after an explanation of the new rule on the face coverings in England.
