Martine Dennis and Richelle Carey are the only two I know of leaving. Did I miss some others? I didn’t notice any other absences to be honest, apart from those stranded outside of Qatar due to a border closure.

Going through the previous pages Hazim Sika left less than a year ago. So at least three in less than a year. I suppose that's not unusual.

Actually 4 if you include Stan Grant. But he was only there for a matter of weeks anyway.

(An aside) ^ Stan Grant is live in the studio on ABC right now, labeled as their “Global Analyst”.

And, for those Darren Jordon fans who were asking a few pages back, he’s on AJE from Doha right now.

Question. Apologies if already covered in earlier threads. Do AJE broadcast and programmes from Washington at all now, such as news hour etc? Or is all just done from London and Doha these days.

News bulletins originate from London and Doha. Washington only produces a few non-bulletins like The Stream and The Bottom Line.

I don't remember exactly when daily live newscasts from Washington stopped, but I believe it was in 2013 a few months before AJAM started. Shihab Rattansi, Ghida Fakhry, Kimberly Halkett, and Anand Naidoo were the anchors toward the end. Riz Khan was also daily, though his show was somewhat indirectly replaced by The Stream.

This may seem arbitrary, but I really loved this series of promos for Inside Story that ran ~10 years ago, and I wish I knew where the music was from. Very powerful.

That also came up for me on Shazam, but if you listen to it, that's not it. It has to be some sort of production music.

"Voice of the People"? Really? It's nice music, but it's the mouthpiece of a Gulf regime.

"Voice of the People"? Really? It's nice music, but it's the mouthpiece of a Gulf regime.

It's hardly a 'mouthpiece' it's owned by the royal family but its editorially independent. That was why it became such a huge success originally, I for many countries it was the first independent news source.

Of course there will be some Qatari angle to some of the Middle Eastern coverage, more so on the original Arabic, but it's not just spouting Qatari foreign policy.

The editorial angle of the English version (possibly the others too) has always been covering stories from the perspective of people. The first part of their mission statement is to give a 'voice to the voiceless':
https://network.aljazeera.net/about-us/our-values

They certainly do cover stories and feature people that never get a look in on other channels, their coverage of South America and Africa is particularly good. Their pieces during past US elections too have been far more 'on the ground' with the voters than other channels
