BBC News nostalgia, including BBC World

They have the 'oven ready' (sorry) solution that they used for the Olympics in 2016.

BBC Sport may have a smaller main studio, but it looks so much better on screen.

Are sets more expensive today than they used to be? Sets are increasingly comprised of multiple large, expensive screens, with comparatively few light boxes and ‘physical’ set items?

Rather than a "refresh" it needs it all needs a rethink. They BBC tends to rebuild the same thing over and over with slight modifications for the last 20 years it seems. Before that they were a bit more adventurous. (I thinking about the flags) IMO opinion, if you are going to spend the money, come up with something completely fresh and new. Rather than just doing the same thing over and over. Yeah NBH is great, but its looks the same as the other studios from the old building to the average viewer. I think of the some of Dutch and Scandinavian or even French studios that are truly modern and fresh and of today should be the direction. The BBC used to the set the agenda and other European (besides the germans and their awful virtual sets) channels would emulate or follow. Case and point the beeping and booping heart monitor theme music that everyone seems to use now across Europe.

A BBC News Special following 9/11... what studio was this?

Interesting that the 2001 Christmas Eve bulletin has the refreshed set with the red panels. For some reason I thought that happened in 2002, but clearly happened some time between Aug 2001 and Dec 2001 according to these previous two posts.

That second studio I’ve seen clips of being used for other things, such as during the Iraq War and an Oscars special (2003 I think). I suspect it’s another section of N8 or N9.

I don't think the second clip is either N8 or N9 as they would have been in permanent use that day. I don't think it's the 'BBC Four News/World News' area of N8 as the desk is not correct.

I think it's the 'Dateline London' set at Millbank.
