The more I think about it the more I think pairing Rita and Ken up together makes a lot more sense.

They've known eachother nearly 50 years, they both have a certain love for the area and the people around them. Rita's feisty nature would be a good foil to the more retiring Ken and it would be a really good way of showing that people can have an intimate relationship in the final years of their life if the writers played it right. Naturally creates some conflict between Tracy and Jenny alongside it and could really begin to set up for the future.

If you really wanted to have a bit of a comedy element to it they could struggle to be compatible sexually until they hire and escort/sex coach who turns out to be a local street resident.

I was referring to this post ^. A few pages back. Admittedly, you didn’t suggest outright sex scenes and I guess the hiring of an escort/sex coach *could* be written tactfully and romantically to “tell a love story”. My apologies for getting it all wrong.

That but without the sarcasm.

Two elderly people get together but discover they aren't sexually compatible so seek to hire a sex coach or an escort. It doesn't go too well for them especially when they discover they've hired someone they know under a pseudonym. You can show it failing without showing the sex. They give up on that side of things but remain together and focus on romantic gestures and being companions. One night, the deed happens.

I take the rest of the points in your post on board though.

Well I certainly wasn't expecting this to be the first post I'd read on this thread in a few days.

‘The deed’. I wouldn’t think Ken needs any help in that department by the way.

Great episode today on ITV3. I liked how both hour long episodes recently have covered several days and moved the storyline on fast.

Only two more episodes left of 1995.

We find out who took Derek's gnome tomorrow, though I'm sure most people already know anyway

Neighbours had a similar story with garden gnomes back in 1995 too. Karl Kennedy kept hiding and moving Marlene Kratz's gnome almost convincing her she was going senile. I think at one point the gnomes multiplied as i remember a scene with Marlene's kitchen filled up with the things as the prank evolved. Susan caught him out a couple of months later and lured him to a place filled with gnomes and stuck posters all over Erinsborough with Karl's face on it with the caption "Do You Gnome This Man?"

Bloody hell they mentioned Frank Barlow tonight. Talk about digging out an old character.

digging out an old character.

It’s certainly a novel plot line

As an active Freemason , having a good chuckle at the "Square Dealers" take of masonry with Curly and Fred Elliot. Even down to Audrey talking about Ladies Nights.

I think the writer John Stevenson must have had insider information... Laughing

That's an EastEnders one isn't it?

Anyway - 4.8m overnight rating, presumably be well over the 5.17m all time low on 7 day but going to be a much lower rating than some the shows been getting recently.

This week's hot weather won't help them get good ratings.
