I believe that LNN in turn is owned jointly by CARLTON & GRANADA

Yes, LNN is certainly (or was at the beginning of the week) jointly owned by Granada and Carlton.

However, it was interesting in the news items about the merger, regardless of what channel you watched on, to see Carlton's franchises listed as including "London weekdays plus LNN" in every case.

No mention of LNN in the Granada list anywhere.

LNN just rents the odd floor or three in Kent House from today's owners.

I read somewhere on this site that LNN now own the studios at Southbank (I thought they were owned by LWT/Granada) and wondered if this is the case and they move to ITN what will happen to Southbank?

The London Television Centre is owned by Granada, LNN, The London Studios, GMTV and others rent space within it

Nick, why do you always insist on referring to Granada's building as Kent House rather than The London Television Centre?

Because I was under the (obviously wrong) impression that The London Television Centre didn't necessarily occupy 100% of the building.

I was, therefore, using "Kent House" as a sort-of generic title for the whole building, rather than any of its parts.

In any case, I find "The London Television Centre" a bit of a difficult title on a forum noted for a lot of members with capitalisation difficulties. You've only got to get ONE capital letter wrong and everyone's asking "Do you mean that one up White City that the Beeb own?".

I can't think of anything else in there

Yes, a lot of taxi drivers make that mistake too - taking BBC programme guests to the South Bank and GMTV/LWT/LNN guests to the BBC

Does anyone know if the LNN move will mean job losses?

If Granada / Carlton end up owning ITN outright, which they want to do, you can see them sharing many facilities to produce LNN's output.

That's a bit of a concrete monstrosity...

Nobody will admit to KNOWING anything yet, Chroma.

However, if it's like the rest of the centralisation and merger business, one can't be TOO optimistic.

Perhaps, but it used to feature prominently on the backdrop behind Peter Lewis on LWT continuity.

So it was very much an LWT icon.

There would be no point in doing it if it wasn't for job losses - that's where the saved money comes from.
