England v Holland was an ITV game though wasn't it? So probably explains the lack of original graphics for that one. This popped up near the end of the show yesterday. Still a caption I never thought I'd ever see.
Do you think if the games do well for the BBC the Premier League might throw 5-10 games in to the terrestrial rights holder during the next rights cycle and as a result may persuade ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to bid. Obviously the big games will go to Sky, some to BT and Amazon but you might see games like Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle etc on free to air.
In theory would be a good idea, but I fear would out price the BBC, allowing a commercial operator to take highlights even now would be disastrous for the product. A committment from the main rights holder to release a match a month to free-to-air would be the best solution. So SKY would simulcast these on Sky One and Pick. A further rider being that the match chosen should feature the previous season's top six clubs at least once.
I'd think keeping Sky/BT happy will be their main priority now and I agree keeping MOTD on BBC1 is probably more important than having FTA live matches.
The more likely question, which could I suppose lead to some FTA coverage, is whether having 9 rounds (plus the 4 earlier rounds) with all games broadcast may push them towards broadcasting all games in the future, and also lead to an end of the 3pm blackout. I'd actually say if they showed all 10 games as long as it isn't a top-pick having one at 3pm on a Saturday is much less of an issue than if it was one of only 3 or 4 matches being broadcast.

Agree wouldn't want to lose MOTD, it definitely was stale when Hansen and Lawro were on a lot around 10 years ago but Shearer has evolved to be a really good pundit and the additions of Danny Murphy, Ian Wright, Jermaine Jenas etc have been good. I think while I enjoyed it at the time The Premiership was a failure for ITV and the fact adverts interrupted the flow of the action and I think even the old 90s format of MOTD they had a lot less action than the BBC. I think the BBC could learn from the EFL removing the Football League which was getting around 1 million at 12pm on BBC One which went to around 400-500k on Channel 5 at 9pm.
Going forward, a lot depends on when stadia re-open to a near full state. It seems likely that the start of the 2020-1 season will follow the same criteria as currently in practice. No indication as to when that'll be has been announced so far. With the UEFA tidy up in August, I'd be surprised if the new season doesn't commence until September. The lower leagues and indeed grassroots game will be mortified to see the 1500 blackout not reinstated once near pre 2020 normality resumes.
Yeah, the purpose of the blackout is so you'll go to the stadia to watch the games, instead of watching football on TV. Obviously, currently you can't do that, which is why the blackout was lifted. As soon as fans are allowed back, the blackout should be back as well.

The issue is far more complex than that. It’s looking unlikely there will be a single moment when these things are returning back to normal, it’s more likely to be a gradual event. In this time Football League clubs will have had the chance to see what income they are making from the online audiences and themselves not want to let that revenue stream go.
Not seen this at a match in ages ..... unfortunate tackle left Galatasaray Keeper Muslera badly injured delayed for almost 15 minutes whilst ambulance arrived on pitch to remove the player
Wow. An ambulance has just driven onto the pitch to take Muslera to hospital. pic.twitter.com/pxELVcg29s

Resulted in 14 minutes added time scheduled in the first half .... 16 and a bit played
Second half 8 minutes added time scheduled .... and played.
Match nominal end time 2045 BST ended at 2113
The Goalkeeper apparently suffering both tibia and fibia fractures in the incident.
And that sort of scene in the Premier League would make a mockery of the "Protect the NHS" mantra.
I know this thread can't miss any opportunity to slag off the Premier League, even in a hypothetical situation, but it's already been made clear that the clubs will be expected to provide private ambulances if use of an NHS one will divert it from other essential work.
