*Jordon and you can still get a fix of him on Al Jazeera English on Freeview. He’s one of their long-serving anchors.

BIG MOIRA!! Love that clip. And what animation was that into the opening wide shot? Classy. Is it Studio N6 or TC7? (Or neither).

Studio N6.

I liked that opener as well, it was introduced in summer 2006. 2006-2008 was actually a good little era for BBC News presentation, which meant of course it lasted little more than about 18 months.

Ah - the hydraulic desk era. Smile

Was Huw the only one allowed to use the hydraulic desk? I never saw anyone else using it.

In your clip, above, there’s a brief shot of George Alagiah and Natasha Kaplinsky at the end. Not sure which studio that was (I know it’s the Six).

It’s that particular studio and set that I recall Moira presenting from towards the end of her time at the BBC, as opposed to the (much better) N6 rendition on the previous page.

That studio of George and Natasha is the 2003-2006 version of N6 (which was modified in 2005, I believe). You're probably thinking of when Moira did the news summaries during Breakfast with Frost/Andrew Marr/Politics Show on Sundays which contained that backdrop. I don't think Moira ever did any national bulletins between May 1999 and late 2006 (which is when that initial clip above is from).

She did present some bulletins in 2006, see this one from 2nd December. Genome suggests her last BBC One bulletin may have been 24th March 2007, and that she presented a bulletin in 2005 and early 2006 pre-relaunch.

As previously said, I remember when her role on Breakfast came to an end, she started presenting some Saturday bulletins. I might be wrong, and I know it isn't on Genome, but I think she might have presented some main bulletins around Christmas time one year as well.

After seeing this rare video of Sian Williams in the Virtual Set, it’s got me thinking which presenters that have presented in the current set at NBH had presented before the 1999 revamp in the Virtual set.

I believe it to just be Sian (before she left), Huw and Fiona. Not sure on anyone else.

I wonder if that means Sian would have also done the 5:35pm bulletin that day, with Sissons or Buerk coming in to do the late?

Peter Sissons claims in his autobiography, when presenting on location during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal in 1998, George Alagiah was on standby in the studio to present if the video link failed. I don't remember George presenting in the Virtual era, and I thought when reading it, Peter was misremembering it with another occasion (Concorde in 2000), but if true, we could add George to that list.

Did Sophie present Breakfast News in the Virtual Era? I know she started in 1997, the year Breakfast News switched sets.

Sophie's first day on Breakfast News was Monday 7th July 1997. Not sure if they'd switched sets by then, or if that was the day they switched.
