Are they stupid? Based on that, they should keep Starz and axe Trace Urban!

Perhaps when you remove Freesat viewers the numbers are not quite so good for Starz.

Interesting that on those audience figures that relatively new stations Now 70s and 80s are doing so well. I know they are/have been on Freeview but goes to show what an established brand can do. Everyone knows MTV, but it's not got the nostalgic affection that Now has.

Same with Chart Show to a much lesser extent.

Who owns the Now channels, it's a brand that's expanded and exploited a lot recently

Record label All Around the World Productions. They also own Clubland.

Maybe they don't feel the costs of Freesat carriage are justified, despite the increased viewing figures (and therefore advertising revenue) which this brings, which has been seen as the reason for many other music channels leaving Freesat.

Vintage TV rated well before it closed. I believe it was one of the highest, if not the highest rating music channel. Now 80s probably did quite well from its closure, in terms of gaining viewers who previously watched Vintage TV (Now 70s wasn't around at the time).

The EPG now suggests that Trace Latina will be closing a few hours earlier, at midnight instead of 7am on Monday.

The EPG is now showing "Latin Hits Now On Trace Urban" from midnight on Monday, with "no listings available" from 7am on Tuesday.

The listings for Starz haven't changed.

Starz is also now showing listings until 7am on Tuesday, with normal listings until 10pm on Monday, and "Maximum Overload! Chart Hits" from 10pm on Monday until 7am on Tuesday.

The description for the final programme to be shown on Starz is as follows:

"This is one playlist you do not want to miss! Back to back huge chart hits guarenteed !"

That mistake is actually in the listings!

Vintage was as close as it got to the excellent Melody TV in France which is also a nostalgic music/film channel.

In the spirit of all those misspelt text messages that Starz were so good at?

Well Starz and Trace Latina are now both showing black screens and playing a single tone.

Both channels ended mid-song a little after midnight - just cut to black and tone, same as you're seeing now.

Last few mins on Trace Latina was Spice Girls - Viva Forever, then a junction announcing Late Night Latina was next, then one final song "Vete Pa La" by Lele Pons - cut to black was at the end of the song (not the actual end of the video, looked like a manual cut)

Last few mins on Starz was similar - "Breathe" by Blu Cantrell & Sean Paul, then ident and a programme ident for "Throwback Pop Anthems", final video was "Barbie Girl" by Aqua - cut to black near the end (I think)

And that was that...

It'll be interesting to see if the Latin hours on Urban uses the Trace Latin branding... The channel is still named and branded Trace Urban right now. Renaming to just Trace and branding hours based on content would work (so Trace and Trace Vault)

The way Trace Latina and Starz closed was very similar to the way the Trace channels launched, in terms of happening at odd, and slightly different times, during a music video, shortly after a junction, and closing by what looked like a feed being turned off.

Also not much of a surprise that the listings were wrong. According to the epg as of yesterday, Starz wasn’t due to close until 7am tomorrow.

Trace Urban is continuing with the usual branding during the Trace Latina hours, but with amended idents which say “the home of Latin music”

Seems Trace management will pull the plug at any given moment when channel closures are envolved...
