Clearly last night's Newsnight was the last time Emily Maitlis will ever work for the BBC. Expect a new itv / Good Morning Britain contract for her by the end of the week.

Why do I get the feeling that this is one of those stories that will drag the BBC through the mud, and before long it’ll be the top headline on the Ten, with Amol Rajan reporting live from 2 feet outside the building.

All I'll need is "Nobody was available from the BBC for comment" at the end of Amol's live report to complete my bingo card.

People only say ITV/GMB because Piers works there. If Piers didn't work there they wouldn't give GMB a second thought.

Funny how Emily was scheduled for tonight on the BBC site, and Katie Razzall hasn't presented since before lockdown.

I have a feeling it won’t be mentioned that Newsnight is getting underway on BBC Two..
