Completely disagree, I think he's been spot-on during this pandemic calling out the government and its clueless ministers for its obvious mistakes - this comes from someone who's usually fairly neutral regarding Piers Morgan.
I think Piers has well and truly lost the plot now. In a sequence this morning, he played out the audio from his phone of a government minister on BBC Breakfast earlier, and then ranted and raved at them when they weren’t even there.

By playing it on his phone, he's making the point more dramatically. I thought it was perfectly reasonable.
What I was getting at, was why play audio from his phone, why not use a clip properly credited 'Speaking on BBC Breakfast earlier' like would usually be the case.
It's as if he's coming up with the running order on his own rather than it properly being produced

I agree! I've previously mentioned that I do think he's overstepped the mark or misread the situation on occasions (prime example being his interview of Nicola Sturgeon which he used to have a go at the Conservative government and not to actually question her about Scotland's approach) but on the whole he has rightly demanded answers and refused to accept the lies, frustratingly indirect responses and lack of clarity which the government have been spouting elsewhere. The fact that they're currently boycotting the show as a whole speaks volumes about their fear of being held to account.
... and I am not a Piers Morgan fan!

I have no problem with Morgan calling politicians to account but to do so via the guests on BBC Breakfast - irrespective of the mass consensus on TV Forum that considers BBC Breakfast as "dull" and "unchallenging" and generally in favour of Good Morning Britain - strikes me as petty, unprofessional, and unsportsmanlike.
Fair enough, the style of questioning on BBC Breakfast is nowhere near as confrontational as on Good Morning Britain, but it's not as if they're rolling over for the politicians, either.

Thought it was quite effective. You have to wonder if the Gov is doing more PR damage to itself by avoiding GMB than going on it. Ministers were gaining some sympathy during Morgan’s rants previously. Now the programme is empty chairing the Gov for 3 hours per day and calling out misleading info on other broadcast interviews. Really doesn’t look for the Gov if you watch GMB (& millions do).

No different than Piers calling out what someone has said in a newspaper. Perfectly justified given the government won't put it's own people up for GMB he has to talk about what's going on from somewhere.
As to why it was on his phone - if anyone's ever worked in a broadcasting environment with strict policies... attempting to get any video off a mobile phone without some combination of WhatsApp, Dropbox or Airdrop etc. - you'd realise how long and difficult it is to get mobile content in a broadcastable form!

You would normally expect there to be a credit for the paper in question though? Haven't seen the piece in question but take from Andrew's comment that Breakfast weren't credited?

It was credited, as you can see here, in this tweet

I don’t think that was ever in question. It was more the fact he just held his phone up to his mic rather than the show actually showing a clip made it look like he’d gone off script.
Maybe tomorrow he could have the live iPlayer open on an iPad and the camera could just zoom into it!
