You're absolutely, right, JAS84.

Having just done a little research, it would appear that in 2003, it was broadcast on ITV, and was then broadcast on ITV2 in 2004 and 2005.

Having never watched the Junior edition, I was not aware of this! Thanks for the information.

That's right, they took it quite seriously in 2003 with a qualifying show and then the contest live on ITV on a Saturday night, shifting Pop Idol to teatime to make way for it. However it was hugely unsuccessful, not helped by commentary coming from Mark Durden-Smith and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson (as ITV had just started their policy that if you were at all popular on I'm A Celebrity, they'd use you on at least half a dozen shows after it), who were pretty hopeless and completely failed to work out who'd won, still speculating if the UK could win despite it already being mathematically certain.

ITV were supposed to host it the following year but they pulled out of that because it had rated badly, and they showed the next two years on ITV2 to wind down the contract. I think they might have repeated the 2004 one on ITV on a Sunday afternoon, but not the next one.

It’s also not right to say “everything Eurovision airs on the BBC”. Eurovision provides an awful lot of sports and news material and itv probably make as much use of it as the BBC do. In BBC news, an awful lot of news content comes via Eurovision, whether live or recorded material supplied by one of the other members.

Not just use the news material, the BBC and ITN alternate each month who is the nominated provider to 'Eurovision News' (as the feeds are now referred to).

I saw both ITV and the BBC there - as would be expected. Both are EBU members and members of the wider Eurovision operation.

The EBU and Eurovision isn't the same as 'The Eurovision Song Contest' - which is just one show that some EBU members license and take part in.

I’m sure RDJ is referring to the fact that the ITV logo is nearly a decade out of date.

That will probably also put the nail in the coffin for the major broadcast industry event, IBC Amsterdam in September then

One positive side effect of all this is that this self satisfied man will not have the final lap of honour and tributes that he was craving.

Well, the alternate host if they pulled out would be Italy, since they were 2nd place in last year's contest. Not a sensible idea considering they're one of the worst Covid-19 affected countries.
