Remember when the BBC didn't take the 50th Anniversary special because they thought it was "too remote" for a British audience despite being named after a UK entry and hosted by a UK winner?

Maybe, but also remember when they did show and indeed produce the 60th Anniversary special, and it flopped enormously and got one of the lowest audiences ever on primetime BBC1?

I'm glad that even though there isn't a contest this year, we can still have the tradition of complaining about the Beeb doing their own thing and not taking it seriously enough.

The story goes that the BBC was meant to produce the 50th special at the Royal Albert Hall but the plans changed so they had a paddy and pulled out altogether.

When I read lippy, my first thought was Jedward. I don’t know what that says about me though.

My all-time favourite. The combination of Måns and Petra was fantastic and they went above and beyond to put on a show. Worth an airing for Love Love Peace Peace alone.

Look out for a then-27 year old TV Forum member frantically jumping around and waving into the camera behind Mans, while he interviews Carola and Loreen.

(it’s not often you realise you’re on TV in front of hundreds of millions of people...)

I was genuinely excited when I found out it was 2016.

The songs themselves was very much above par what we've had in recent years, and change in voting and results to follow Melfest kept you guessing to the very last minute as to who actually won the contest.

Also the #IsolationSongContest tonight raising money for Refuge, Crisis and Trussel Trust with the likes of Mans (representing the UK with our best song in years), Tim Vine and Mel (introduced by Sue) taking part. It's a rather affectionate piss take.

Oh for heavens sake this is getting ridiculous now, or should I say more ridiculous now, the official GWR Twitter account is involved tonight ..... Shocked
